Mickaeel Gordon netted a late item as Scarborough Secondary edged last year’s winner Signal Hill Secondary 2-1 to be crowned BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League Tobago Zone champion.

Going into the match at Signal Hill, the visitors needed only to avoid defeat while Signal Hill had to achieve maximum points to retain its zonal crown on goal-difference from its rival.

However, Scarborough wasted little time and went ahead as early as the 11th minute through Christopher Morgan, a lead it held until the half.

Despite being outplayed, Signal Hill managed to draw level via Shaquille Gill in the 69th minute which was good enough for the title.

But ten minutes later Gordon grabbed the eventual title clincher for Scarborough as it ended with 22 points from eight matches, six ahead of Signal Hill.

The Tobago champion, now travel to Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, on Tuesday for a 4 pm meeting with eight-time reigning Central Zone champion, Carapichaima East Secondary in a national “Big-Five” quarterfinal.
