THE UNIVERSITY of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) eliminated defending champs Guaya United from the 2016 edition of the National Super League Knockout tournament on Wednesday.

In a Second Round meeting at the UTT O’Meara campus in Arima, UTT prevailed by a 2-0 margin, with Dillon Bartholomew opening the scoring in the 45th minute while Shaquille Smith extended the lead in the 87th.

UTT , leaders in the 2016-2017 Super League Championship Division, were joined by Premiership Division table-toppers Sports and Games FC Santa Rosa in the quarter- final round.

Santa Rosa breezed past Central 500 Spartans 4-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya.

Sheldon Nesbitt netted a pair, in the 25th and 47th minutes, to follow up an own goal, in the 24th minute. Rashad Griffith completed the scoring in the 89th.

Tobago FC Phoenix 1976 got a hat-trick from Dominic Mc- Dougall and a double from the evergreen Dominique Kerr as they trounced Barrackpore United 5-0 at the Canaan Recreation Ground.

McDougall got his name on the scoresheet in the 45th, 54th and 82nd minutes, while Kerr struck in the 28th and 33rd.

In another lopsided result, Petrotrin Palo Seco crushed Siparia Spurs 5-1 at the Palo Seco Velodrome.

Cory Cyrus scored in the 56th and 75th, while Antuan John (third), Romauld Aguillera (45th) and Renefor Martin (85th) chipped in with one apiece. Andy London got the consolation for Siparia, in the 46th.

Akil Thomas (23rd) and Weah Adams (66th) got their names on the scoresheet as Youth Stars knocked out Defence Force 2-0 at the Defence Force headquarters in Chaguaramas.

At the WASA Ground in St Joseph, Police earned a come-frombehind 2-1 win over WASA. The hosts went ahead in the 28th courtesy of Glen Walker but conceded an own goal in the 58th. And, in the 70th, Jason Boodram netted the winning goal for the guests.

Similarly, Carenage United came from a goal down to beat hosts Club Sando Moruga 2-1 at the Grand Chemin Recreation Ground. Nigel John struck for Club Sando Moruga in the 25th but Kevon Dove notched a pair, in the 67th and 90th, for the visitors.

Bethel United needed kicks from the penalty spot to oust Matura ReUnited 5-3, after the scores were locked at 4-4 at the end of regulation time. Kevon Woodley (first, 50th and 81st) got a hattrick for Bethel, while Omarr Charles struck in the 30th. Finding the back of the net for Matura were Kelvin Smith (28th), Brendon Figuera (24th), Zavion Navarro-Patron (39th) and Kerin Vincent (80th).
