THE FIVE-POINT lead held by FC Santa Rosa over Defence Force remained intact after Sunday’s slate of games, on Match Day 18 of the National Super League Premiership Division.

Santa Rosa edged third-placed Club Sando Moruga 1-0 while Defence Force earned a similar result over the struggling Queen’s Park.

At the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Santa Rosa got a 53rd minute goal from Rashad Griffith to notch their 12th victory of the season while, at the St Mary’s College Ground in St Clair, the prolific Josimar Belgrave found the back of the net in the 45th minute to seal three points for the Army-Coast Guard combination.

Santa Rosa have a total of 40 points from 18 games, while Defence Force have 35 from 18.

Siparia Spurs climbed from sixth to fourth after a 5-2 spanking of WASA FC at Irwin Park in Siparia.

Marvin Seuradge and Andy London notched two goals apiece for Siparia - Seuradge got his name on the scoresheet in the 18th and 31st minutes, while London netted in the 25th and 36th. And Chris Collins scored Siparia’s fifth, in the 42nd.

WASA got items from Glen Walker and Keston Jordan, in the 22nd and 49th minutes respectively.

Police overcame an early scare from table-proppers Marabella Family Crisis Centre to prevail 2-1 at the St James Barracks.

Marabella took the lead through an own goal, after four minutes, but ex-Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Trent Noel equalised in the 10th and Kenwin Matthew notched the winner in the 70th.

In a high-scoring affair at the New Lands Ground in Guayaguayare, hosts Guaya United overcame a combative Petrotrin Palo Seco 4-3.

The Palo Seco outfit had a 2-0 lead with strikes from Angus John (eighth) and Renefor Martin (24th) before Carlon Hughes tied the scores with a double, in the 30th and 35th.

John restored Palo Seco’s lead in the 47th but there was a final twist to the tale, as Akeel Paul struck in the 69th and 90th minutes to give Guaya a hard-fought win.

1976 FC Phoenix and Bethel United each registered victories over Real Maracas and Matura Re- United 3-1 respectively.

At the Canaan Recreation Ground, Phoenix took care of Maracas, with a double from Dominique Kerr (37th and 48th) and one from Lejandro Williams (85th). Ryan Stewart got the consolation for Maracas, in the 40th.

At the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground, Bethel United were rewarded with goals from Rohan Sebro (10th), Teejay Cadiz (20th) and Kevon Woodley (85th), while Kerin Vincent replied for Matura in the 44th.
