Dwight Crichlow fired in a last minute winner as Valtrin FC edged Club Sando 2-1 in a late bmobile National Super League on Sunday at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday to keep its faint hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Club Sando led 1-0 at the half thanks to a strike from Lester Edwards, however on the resumption, Nathan Lewis drew Valtrin level in the 61st minute before Crichlow snatched a last minute winner. With the valuable three points picked up, Valtrin moved off the foot of the table with 16 points from 17 matches, two more than cellar placed Queen’s Park while ST Francois Nationals the other club in the bottom three has 19 points.

At the end of the 20-match league campaign, the last three clubs would be relegated back to their respective association leagues while the top two teams from the T&T Football Federation Champion of Champions Tournament will gain promotion to next year’s Super League.

At the top of the standing is Digicel Pro League hopefuls, T&TEC with 40 points from 16 matches, five more than former winner WASA which has played two more matches.

T&TEC, 4-0 victors over M&M Harvard on Sunday only needs a win in its next match against third placed 1976 Phoenix (30 points) tomorrow to seal the title. The “Electricity Boys” also have a match against Defence Force, before the Disciplinary Committee as the venue at the Defence Force Headquarters ground was said to be unfit.
