DWAYNE JACK, a member of the Tobago United Professional Football League club, has been drafted into a depleted “Soca Warriors” team for their final match in the Digicel Caribbean Cup against host Barbados tomorrow from 8pm.
With defender Marlon Rojas already ruled out with a hamstring injury, and limited replacements available, St Clair wasted little time in calling up Jack, who could well make his first appearance against the host country.
Jack, who was a part of the T&T training squad prior to their departure for Barbados, is expected to join up with the team and will have one day to familiarise himself with the conditions in Barbados
There is also an injury doubt over forward Nigel Pierre who is likely to miss the match against the Barbadians after being advised by a local eye specialist to rest.
Pierre, the scorer of T&T’s goal in the 2-1 defeat to Jamaica, missed last night’s match against Cuba after he suffered extreme swelling of the right eye following a blow in Sunday’s encounter.
He spent most of Monday resting and after being checked by Trinidadian Barbados-based Doctor Mario John, went for X-rays which showed no fractures. But a visit to the specialist yesterday showed that there was inflammation on the infected area and any further contact could worsen his state.
