Goalkeeper Cleon John has his sights on the national senior team. John who was voted “Man-of-the-match” in the FA Trophy final last Friday, has been knocking on the door of the Soca Warriors for a few seasons but is yet to claim a regular place in the squad.

His performance on Friday followed another solid season for bmobile San Juan Jabloteh, and improved John’s ratings. “It was a lot of hard work and effort from the team this season and I’m really happy that we were able to end the season with a victory in the FA,” John said.

“The players deserve it. We kept on pushing despite the lack of success in the League and we know we had to come away with something.”

On his chances of earning a recall as the 2014 World Cup campaign approaches, John is quietly optimistic. “It’s something I’m working towards and only my performances can do the talking.

I’ve been working hard and my performances have been okay but it’s a difficult spot to earn but I believe with continued hard work and belief something can happen.

“For the time being, I’m just going to work on getting better and let the selectors make their decision at the end of the day,” added John who earned the FA Trophy “Man of the Match” award sponsored by The Fan Club of Movie Towne.
