Unbeaten South Zone champion, Debe Secondary added yet another major title to its illustrious trophy cabinet yesterday, as it defeated Bishop’s High of Tobago by a three-goal margin for the second time in less than two weeks, to claim the BGTT/First Citizens Girls’ National InterCol title.

The victory, which took place at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, came ten days after Debe demolished Bishop’s 4–1 at the same venue.

On Monday, Debe sealed its third title this season with a 2–0 victory over the formidable St Augustine Secondary.

Incredibly, national youth attacker Kayla Taylor, who scored eight goals in three finals this season added another to her bag, when she scored yesterday’s second goal.

The two teams, however, seemed to be heading into the break with the scores deadlocked, but a 39th minute strike from another junior national player Patrice Vincent, a minute before the half, gave Debe a 1–0 lead.

Debe returned even stronger in the second half, and doubled up with yet another goal from Taylor in the 65th. Two minutes before full time, Vincent got her second as Bishop’s was left to accept yet another bitter loss to perhaps the most successful school in girls’ football.

Debe Secondary topped the South Zone league championship without slipping up. It won every match, before advancing to the South Zone InterCol stage, where in the final it had possibly its trickiest test against last year’s National InterCol winner Vessigny. In the end Debe won 3-2 despite a late surge from the rivals.

Subsequently, Debe defeated Bishop’s of Tobago in the Big-Four final, to avenge last season’s 1–0 loss to El Dorado.

The final hurdle Debe faced before reaching the final was against St Augustine Secondary, which scored far more goals than any other school this year, but the East Zone champion met its match, and suffered a 2–0 defeat.
