Signal Hill Secondary School's Celine Loraine was unbelievable as she helped her team romp to a 21-0 win over Goodwood Secondary in the Girls Championships' Tobago Zone in the Shell/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League on Thursday evening.
Loraine, who has scored in every Signal Hill match, blasted in seven goals for the leader of the zone at the Bertille St Clair playing field, to remain unbeaten in the seven-team competition.
Jelese Alexander was the second-best scorer for Signal Hill with five while her teammates Dilleasia Nicholson netted three and Tiah Crichlow put two in. Ashante Wilson-Campbell, Salatina Seales, Gamelia Waldron each scored once in the onslaught. The other item came off an own goal despite Goodwood's best efforts to subdue its opponent.
For their performance, Loraine and Crichlow were chosen as the most valuable players for Signal Hill while for Goodwood, Carissa Cowan and Diamond Arthur were adjudged the leading performers.
In other matches played in the zone, Bishop's High and Speyside also had dominating performances to earn victories. At the Plymouth recreation ground, Bishop's High whipped Mason Hall, 6-0 and at the Speyside recreation ground, the host team defeated Scarborough, 3-0.
Back in Trinidad, in East Zone action, Maheda Morang and Eve Jones each netted a double to lift Five Rivers to a 5-2 victory over San Juan North at the Prime Ministers ground.
Morang opened the scoring in the ninth minute to put Five Rivers up 1-0. San Juan didn't stay down for long as Akhila Gomez equalised in the 24th. Two minutes later, Morang put Five Rivers ahead again with her second item in the 26th.
Jones added a pair of goals in the 39th and 44th, to Five Rivers ahead before Annia Noel pulled one back for San Juan completing a shot from the penalty spot in the 54th. Kayla Baboolal sealed the affair with a goal in the 63rd for Five Rivers.
Bishop Anstey East and El Dorado East were also winners on the day against Valencia (3-2) and Manzanilla (2-1), respectively.
In the North, Holy Name Convent's splendid win streak continued after downing Bishop Anstey, 7-1 at the Nelson Mandela Park in St Clair, Port-of-Spain. This was thanks to a pair of goals each from Brittany Mahabir, Analeisse Arneaud and Havana Ramdeen. Kai-Marie Simpson netted the other item.
