National Under-17 captain Mariah Shade led from the front with two early goals, as Debe High defeated Princes Town 5-0 in the final of the South Zone Girls’ InterCol on Tuesday at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.
After netting in the eighth and 13th minutes, skipper Shade saw her school make light work of its opponents, which had previously been knocked out of the tournament but allowed to continue as a result of winning an appeal.

Shade’s national teammate, Kayla Taylor, increased the lead, scoring seven minutes before the end of the first half.

One minute after the interval, Elizabeth Ng Wai notched the fourth item to put the match out of the reach of Princes Town.

Stoute defending by national senior team cricketer, Brittney Cooper, restricted Debe’s scoring until Patrice Vincent broke through to score the fifth goal in the 47th minute.

Debe will now come up against North Zone champion Providence Girls’ High School in the national semifinals today on QRC grounds, St Clair, from 3 pm.
