Debe High showed its strength when beating Fyzabad Anglican 3-0 in the opening match of the Secondary Schools Girls Football League which kicked off yesterday, at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.

Playing without five regular starters in captain Mariah Shade, Kayla Taylor, Stephanie Bean, Linfah Jones and Patrice Vincent, all of whom were on national duty, the defending national champions pulled off a convincing victory.

Flamboyant Elizabeth Ng Wai opened the scoring in the 15th minute and Alisa Joseph put Debe further ahead in the 30th before Afiesha Clement completed the rout in the 60th minute.

North champions, Providence Girls School started its campaign with a 3-1 win against St Joseph’s Convent, at Federation Park, St Clair. Britney Farah, Akeisha De La Rosa and Tifany Ramdoo each scored for Providence while Megan Murray found the back of the net for St Joseph’s. The league will continue on Sunday.
