Senior division winner Vessigny Secondary upset South Zone Championship team, Holy Faith Convent 3-2 in the BGTT Girls’ Secondary Schools InterCol competition at Skinner Park, San Fernando, yesterday.

National U-17 mid-fielder, Khadidra Debessette followed up her hat-trick against Point Fortin East Secondary on Sunday, with two goals, while Cherise Marshall scored the other. Prolific Holy Faith goal-scorer, Kerchelle Torres and Crystal Maharaj helped narrow the deficit for their side.

Speaking after the match, Vessigny coach, Travis Joseph described his team as a fighting bunch and expressed confidence they can get past South Zone, national InterCol and Big Four champion, Debe High when the teams meet on Saturday at Mahaica Oval, Point Fortin in the South Zone InterCol final.

Joseph gave credit to national players and twin, Khadidra and Khadisha Debessette, who he said played a major role in motivation and keeping the team together.

Debe breezed past Point Fortin West Secondary 3-0, thanks to a double from Mariscia Adams while national U-17 mid-fielder, Kayla Taylor, scored the other goal.

In the North/East Zone, East Zone champion, El Dorado East Secondary got the better of St George’s College 2-1 to maintain their unbeaten run. El Dorado will now meet North Zone Champion, St Francois Girls’ College on Saturday in the North/East InterCol final.
