South Zone defending champions and current leaders Debe High dropped their first points of the season when the school was held to a 0-0 draw by Point Fortin West Secondary on Sunday in the BGTT First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League.

The match was the second of a double-header played at the Teschier Ground, Point Fortin. In the surprising goal-less encounter, Debe who had several opportunities to take the lead could not finish their chances, as was evident by the illness of some of their key players.

Captain and national team player Kayla Taylor, who is recovering from a flu came on with 20 minutes to go, with the intent of finding or creating the breakthrough but it wasn’t to be for her or her team which has scored 17 goals in their three matches.

The Debe team were hit a further blow when defender Alyssa Joseph collapsed due to exhaustion during the match. She was then taken to hospital for treatment.

The match followed the other South Zone fixture which saw Holy Faith breeze past Point Fortin West 6-0.

Alisha Grainger scored a hat-trick while Kerchel Torres and Michelle Murray scored a double and single item respectively for the winners.

Despite the draw, Debe remain comfortable in top spot with 10 points, followed by Holy Faith and Vessigny on four points.

Roxborough won their second consecutive match when the school defeated Signal Hill 3-1 to go top in the Tobago Zone.

N’Jemile Charles and Kerrisha George who scored in their last outing were both again, on target as was Novella Mc Wellington who scored her first goal in the campaign.
