A hat-trick from Rhonique Alexander and a double from Ashley Alonzo saw Malick City ease its way to a 5-0 win and a spot at the top of the standings, at the expense of a struggling Step by Step FC, when action continued in the Women’s League Football (WoLF) Premier Division competition, on Wednesday.

Having played one match more than defending champion Real Dimension, Malick City will be grateful for the big-win but cautious of the possibility of losing its lead once again when the top two teams play in a crucial match-up tomorrow, at Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph.

Malick’s 5-0 win over second-from-bottom Step by Step followed St Augustine’s first draw of the campaign in a 1-1 tie with Defence Force, in the opening match of a double header at UWI Gorund, St Augustine. Step by Step will return to action today when it faces the resurging National Women’s U-17 team at UWI Ground, St Augustine, from 6 pm.

Premier Division matches will continued into Sunday, which will also see the final round of matches in the First Division, Group A.

Central FC and Tobago have already been confirmed as the top two sides in Group A, but will be in action to complete the fixtures. Civic Centre Pioneers and Pretrotrin have also taken first and second place, respectively, in Group B, and with the top two teams in Group A, will advance to the Big-Four competition, where the two finalists will earn promotion to the Premier Division. The bottom two teams at the end of the Premier Division, will be relegated to the First Division. The Big-Four is expected to start on Wednesday and be completed next Friday, at venues to be confirmed.
