Tobago FC inched one step closer to the Women’s League Football (WoLF) title on Saturday while defending champions Real Dimension may have given up any chance it had of retaining its title.

The two met at the Plymouth Recreation Ground on Saturday, and Tobago, who has been in exceptional form since the beginning of the league, beat the once invincible side, 2-1. Tobago’s most prolific scorer and national senior team player, Kennya Cordner, found the back of the net once, while Akilah George scored the other.

Janine Francois, reduced the goal deficit by scoring one for Dimension, but her side are slowly sinking back to the bottom of the barrel where it began the league. T&T Under-17 team’s unfortunate run of luck continued over the weekend, resulting in it succumbing to Joe Public 2-0, in a match played at Squadron’s Ground, Arouca.

Jenelle Nedd and Kathy-Ann Nixon, did the work for Joe Public, with the U-17s being unable to get past the table leader’s defence. The U-17s led the table by one point at the end of their last match against Tobago, however, with this loss, it has dropped to third.

In the First Division, former national senior team player, Anastacia Prescot, returned from injury to help her team, Malick City to a 3-0 victory over Point Fortin at the St George’s College ground, Barataria. Verlene Valentine and Telicia Voire scored the other two.

Sangre Grande based Sweaters Touring beat Mayaro Spurs 5-2 at the Sangre Grande Recreational Ground, as Minty Cruikshank in her usually superb form, found the back of the net twice, while Krishelle Gabriel, Jenelle Garcia and Kia Simon scored one each.
