Executive board members of the San Juan Jabloteh football club will hold a special meeting tomorrow to discuss some of the major issues currently affecting the club, after inside sources secretly revealed the seasoned club may be on the brink of a collapse due to a lack of financial support.

Speaking with Newsday yesterday, another source close to the team explained the meeting on Monday is being specifically held to focus on this crucial and pressing issue. Reports recently revealed the longstanding club had not received any monetary funds from their previous sponsor, Adam’s Construction, since October of last year.

The source added the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT) then came on board and were pumping an approximate $17,000 a month into the club. But they claim the funds from SPORTT were stopped and they haven’t received a cent from them (SPORTT) since January of this year.

The insider voiced his concern and wanted to know why funding was stopped to the prestigious local club without any form of explanation.

“If we did something wrong, we don’t know what it is. At least we would like to know. Funding has been stopped from both Adam’s Construction and the Ministry of Sports and to this date, we have no clue as to why they would do us such a thing. Let us know why, we are willing to listen and work things out if they can be. But right now we are lost and not sure why these monies have stopped coming in,” he explained.

The source admitted they have sent numerous letters and have also attempted to reach Minister of Sports Anil Roberts through various means. However, all attempts have gone in vain.

The source further revealed, “We have tried many ways to reach the Minister (Roberts) and to this date we have been unsuccessful on all occasions.

Letters have been sent and no reply, we even sent people to represent on our behalf and to speak to the Minister, but all attempts have since proven to be futile.”
