w connection vs jabloteh1.jpgW Connection played out for a 1-0 win against St Ann’s Rangers on Tuesday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium with Colombian Oscar Torijano netting the decisive item early in the match. The win moved the Savonnetta Boys back in second with 28 points, just one point behind League leaders Clico San Juan Jabloteh.
However, Jabloteh with two matches in hand (against W Connection and Tobago United) could extend their lead if they were to record wins. But this could be tough for the San Juan Kings as Connection, one of their fiercest rivals, are on the prowl to steal top spot.

Torijano’s 12th minute item left a sour taste in home team St Ann’s Rangers, leaving them in 6th position failing to add to their 20 points. United Petrotrin dropped two places into fourth after a brief stint in second. The southerners went under 2-1 against Joe Public down at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground.

Guyanese attacker Gregory Richardson and Arnold Dwarika scored a goal each for the Lions in the second period for a comeback win after former Joe Public player Devon Caseman opened the scoring in the 39th minute.

Petrotrin with 26 points are still ahead of the Lions in fifth with 24 points. But Tuesday’s result away from home was a good one for new coach Keith Griffith in his first match in charge.

Moving up the table are Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA, ahead of Petrotrin on goals difference with the same 26 points. The Morvant based side had a compelling win against North East Stars at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

North East Stars had the early advantage when Sylvester Teesdale netted in the 10th minute but veteran attacker Kendall Velox responded with a goal on either side of the half to give Caledonia AIA a 2-1 comeback win.

And in the fourth match played out of the Round Two Match Day Six, Defence Force registered a hardworked 3-2 victory over MA Pau SC at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium to move two places up the standings and out of the bottom.

Defence Force with 9 points are ahead of 8th positioned Tobago United on goals difference, while Ma Pau SC still with 8-points dropped one spot into 10th, the position formally held Army. T&T international Kevon Carter opened the scoring in the 45th minute for a 1-0 Army half time lead.

In the second period four goals were shared between the teams with Defence Force’s Anton Joseph (63’) and Sherman Phillips (81’) getting their names on the scoresheet. And Ma Pau’s newcomer Trevin Ceasar (73’) and regular Rennie Britto (85’) putting up a fight. Army overcoming a nine game haul without a win. Their last win recorded was a 2-1 win over St Ann’s Rangers in Round One Match Day Three.
