Clubs such as Bmobile Joe Public and Ma Pau SC have been competing to sign top players, however Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille has been quietly boosting it’s Technical Department.

Last week the Morvant/Laventille added former Trinidad and Tobago international midfielder and Jabloteh assistant coach/player Travis Mulraine to its technical staff.

Speaking on the acquisition of Mulraine, Caledonia head coach Jamaal Shabazz said, “As soon as we heard Travis was available we approached him. And we are now very happy to announce that Mulraine has accepted to join us. He has a very good football brain and his competitive and aggressive nature is just the kind of injection our staff needs.

“More importantly Travis Mulraine was born and bred in Laventille and he understands very well what Caledonia AIA is dealing with and the tremendous responsibility the club has towards the youths of the Morvant/Laventille community and generally those in the east/west corridor.”

Mulraine will join longstanding assistant coach/trainer Jerry Moe alongside Shabazz. While goalkeeper coach Steve Fredericks completes the Pro team's coaching staff.

Commenting on the need to bring in Mulraine, Shabazz explained, “Caledonia was never a huge player in the business of buying players. More than ever, this year we are concerned of identifying talent and developing the young players. To do this, we need coaches who are enthusiastic and vibrant. And Travis brings these qualities to our program.”

Mulraine, a former Joe Public, W Connection and Jabloteh player, said that it is long overdue for Caledonia to lift the (Digicel) Pro League championship and hopes that his involvement will help the club reign supreme in 2010.

“Caledonia is the club I started off playing football with after leaving school and it’s a joy coming back after my playing career,” Mulraine said.

“Its long overdue that Caledonia haven’t won the League championship and I hope that my involvement will help the club finish on top this season,” he added.

Mulraine believes he has the best of both worlds at Caledonia coaching alongside Shabazz and Moe.

“I’ve trained with Jamaal and Moe for two months last year before joining Jabloteh,” continued Mulraine. “And I can safely say that I have the best of both worlds joining Caledonia’s technical staff this season.

“I’ve always admired their style of play and methods that they employ at Caledonia. They are a very good offensively however I think they give up too many soft goals. I believe that my aggressive and technical input will be a plus for the club while I am sure I will be learning a lot from coaches Jamaal and More.”
