The League was initially schedule to be launched on April 9 but was postponed to facilitate the participation of two of the Pro League teams, Joe Public and San Juan Jabloteh in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships.

Tobago United, the lone Tobago team in the Pro League is ready to commence their campaign in the League. Head coach Peter Granville and his technical staff has had their charges under an intense training programme for the last six weeks.

This is the Club's sixth year in the League and though last year was the first time they did not finish in the cellar position, they must be given credit for their resilience. Despite their poor showing they have persevered while a number of other teams have fallen by the wayside, among them North East Stars who are making a return and Petrotrin.

While they continue to struggle on the field, the management committee must be given full credit for keeping the Club afloat in these stringent economic times because playing in the League is an enormous financial burden on the Club's coffers.

They will open their campaign against Ma Pau in Trinidad and their main goal will be to improve their the standings this year.

The Pro League will culminate in February 2010, their will be two separate breaks during the period to facilitate FIFA tournaments, the World Cup in South Africa in June and the Under 17 World Cup for girls in September which will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago.

Though United are the only Tobago team in the League, there are a number of other Tobago players playing for different clubs in the League.

However, up to press time an official list of players from Tobago and their clubs was not available from the Pro League office, but Tobago News was able to ascertain that veteran defender Cyd Gray who made his mark for the National team in their historic 2006 World Cup appearance is in the Ma Pau line-up while former Mason Hall Secondary school stand-out and Tobago United player, Daneil Cyrus who was a member o the National Under 20 team that competed in the 2009 World Cup in Egypt will be running-out for Caledonia AIA.
