“We have a lot of firepower upfront,” warned Caledonia AIA assistant coach/player Travis Mulraine ahead of the 2011-2012 Digicel Pro League Championship season which kicks-off this weekend.

“I think once we score our chances we would go on to win the title this season,” added Mulraine.

He boasted that the club now has number of good strikers with pre-season signings Trevin Caesar and Jamal Gay to combine with last season’s Kevon Woodley and Keyon Edwards.

“We now have a number of good strikers and the new guys have settled in well,” he continued.

Speaking on his team’s general preparation, Mulraine said, “I think we are getting where we want to be, but not one hundred percent just yet. We just have a bit of kinks here and there to work out.”

Caledonia finished second on the table last season, behind League champions Defence Force and wants to improve on that this season by taking the Championship title to the communities of Morvant/Laventille.

Caledonia kicks of their quest for supremacy from 7pm on Friday at the Marvin Lee Stadium against the defending champs Defence Force.

“I think this game is a great indicator of what the season might have in store,” continued Mulraine.

“To get a victory against the defending champs in the opening game would say exactly what we are capable of for the rest of the season.

“It’s just for our strikers to out away chances this season. That was the reason we finished short of the title last season and we are hoping the strikers will do their part this time around,” ended Mulraine.

“I think it would be a very tough game for us (against Defence Force), but it’s also a tough game for them because we are coming out for full points as well,” Caesar said. “And at the end of the game, the better team wins.”

The Tobagonian forward wants more than the League Championship for his new club adding, “I want to go out and work hard for the club. My goal is to help the club win some silverware this season and that includes the League. Also I want to help my team into next season’s (Caribbean Football Union) CFU Club Championship.

“And for me, it’s about scoring a lot more goals,” ended the Trinidad and Tobago U23 forward.

Former Ma Pau SC defender Aquil Selby, former Joe Public midfielder Micah Lewis and trialist Keda Roderick formally of San Juan Jabloteh youth teams were the other major pre-season signings for the Morvant/Laventille club.

While experienced players Stephan David, St. Lucian Burton Sheldon Emmanuel, Densill Theobald and Mulraine are in the mix with the talents of Akim Armstrong, Edwards, 17 year-old Guyanese winger Trayon Bobb, Kemron Purcell, Tobagonian Woodley, Collin Nelson, Jamaican goalkeeper Kevin Graham and second choice goalie Victor Thomas of last season squad.
