The Miscellaneous Laventille United team has made a dream start to their debut campaign in the Northern Football Association Premier Division, winning four out of their opening four games in the League’s opening round. The Boys from Laventille have beaten Queen’s Park Cricket Club 5-3, Cultural Roots 3-1, Carenage 2-1 in Carenage and thumped Malta Carib Alcons 6-0 at Sogren Trace last weekend.

The team is currently coached by founder Cedric “Drinks” Hazelwood with Ken Elie serving as technical director. Several of the players in the current side participated in the recent Laventille Nights exhibition match involving former Brazil World Cup winning captain Cafu. Their most influential player so far has been Kareem Charles with Clint Raymond, Brad Clifton and Qualanson Archibald also making valuable contributions.

“We’ve had a brilliant start to the season with our four victories so far,” Hazelwood said. “We were prepared for a different challenge after being promoted from the first division last year and so far we’ve coped very well. It’s early days yet but we are remaining focused on our ambitions which to finish well and to keep bringing a positive light upon Laventille,” Hazelwood said.
