Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has allegedly shot and wounded a work experience boy at the club after "larking" around with an air rifle, according to the News of the World.

The incident happened last Sunday at the Chelsea's Cobham training ground when Cole took the .22 gun from a box, not realising it was loaded, and accidentially fired at Tom Cowan, 21, from just five feet away.

A source told the News of the World: "It's truly inconceivable that a Premier League footballer could bring a gun to the training ground.

"But Ashley pulled the rifle from a box and started larking about with it in the changing room, not realising it was loaded. It ended up pointed at Tom just five feet away.

"The gun went off with a loud pop and Tom screamed as this lead pellet hit him in the side. It went through his clothing and into his flesh."

Cowan received treatment from the Chelsea medical staff and was given two days to rest after the ordeal, which was witnessed by a dozen staff members of the club.

Police were not called and the source went on to say that Chelsea officials were concerned that "it would be a PR disaster if this became public knowledge, so the club has closed ranks over it".

At present there has been no word from Chelsea about the alleged incident.

Come Chelsea, lewwe go!  Today is not de day for poor shooting, poor crossing and defensive lapses.  Make van der saar work, beat vidic on de dribble (this is where a long-departed SWP coulda come een) and render this team usesless by breakin' up they counterattack.

yuh know.....I really thoght that rooney matured and learned to humble he self over the years, but...he's just a spoilt brat of an asshole boy.  There's a way to deal with players like him but apparently these men in the EPL either don't know how or are too afraid.

Luiz shoulda clout up Rooney, like how he elbow McCarthy, but the rough-up and goal was enough I suppose.

Home Of the F@#king Champions!!!!!!!!!!

For now; enjoy it will you still can!

heres a lil conspiracy theory for ya'll

if manu win thier 19th trophy to pass liverpool

think of the revenue the FA and the Premier league stand to gain by promoting this possible fact.

think of the tv rights for the league, the minions of manu scum that will rise out of the pond to buy shirts and lash themselves to the band wagon any way they can

having said that, its nice to put these conspiracy cats amongst the pigeons  :rotfl:
