Football / My Last Day in Egypt
« on: September 26, 2009, 12:37:56 PM »
Ladies and Gentleman...what can I say...this is my last night in Cairo Egypt and i'm getting ready to head over to the airport. flight leaves in 3 hrs back to New York. I had the time of my life over here..but nothing topped going to see the warriors represent in Alexandria......Yeah. I know we lost and lost by a lot, but even so ..everyone I spoke to over here was impressed by the Trinidad and Tobago team.

Leh meh tell allyuh something.... if allyuh feel we in Trinidad does be accomodating to other fans in the Hasley Crawford Stadium, we have nothing on the Egyptian people we met over here.  It was just me and de wife, and we were suppose to have been seated in 1st class with other Trini supporters, but it did not happen that way.
Getting into the stadium was hell and we ended up sitting in the heart of the Egyptian madness. The stadium was loud and packed, but members off the Eygptian police ushered us to some available seats, real good seats I might add, but a bit uncomfortable as we were the only 2 there wearing we Trini Shirts and flags.  But in the end we had nothing to worry about, 3 police officers stayed with us.  The only uncomfortable moment for us really was when a woman wanted to tell my wife to hush after Trinidad score. When de goal score we started to jump up and carry on, wifey say she was jumpin up too and the woman wanted she to hush..nex ting ah turn around and big arguement going on while I still celebrating....The police run over by the woman tell she shut up and the Egyptian crowd start tuh pong she too....ah doh know what de ass they was saying to she, but the poor woman stay quiet for the rest of the night.  She chirren even came over to us after the game and say they want we tuh beat Italy bad!!!
From where we sat I only see about 3 other Trinis down below and around them was empty, my guess is that was where we where suppose to be.

I have to run now, but will come back to give more details on the game and the players. Met a few of them and met some of the staff as well while in Alexandria and in Cairo. Have some good pics too..
All in all we lost, but from the atmosphere here the team don't have to feel that bad , they gave a good showing and missed some good opportunities to score but I for one, am very proud of them.  Heading to the airport now...will post some more info when I get back to New York.......lataz

If the TTFF was based in South I doubt any north men would make the national side.

If the national stadium was based in South the T&T team would have had 100% more support than it currently gets. The stadium would have been full not only for world cup qualifiers but other games to.

W Connection (south) and Joe Public (east) won the most titles in the pro league.

If they cut T&T in half south will survive. South have oil, natural gas, food, best weed, meats, less crime etc etc...  north have KFC and TGIF....

Best Calyposnians and Soca Chutney singers came from south.

Borough Day growing. South again...

San Fernando Tech won the most SSFL and League titles.

Naparima will win this year.....

Even Patrick Manning was born in south.....  :rotfl:

Yuh mean tuh say in 2007, South People still doh have any means of travelling to the North!!!

Trinidad not dat big!!!

Warriors tackle mighty Mexicans.
By: Ian Prescott (Express).

Wim lines up Mexico, El Salvador.

"Everything is still based on looking for a team in the next couple of months to go into the World Cup qualifying. The draw is in November, and hopefully we will know the situation with the foreign players by then. "
With the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) draw for 2010 World Cup qualifying coming up soon, Wim Rijsbergen, coach of Trinidad and Tobago's national senior team, has restarted his international programme.
The Dutchman has called 20 players to begin training next Tuesday in preparation for upcoming international friendly matches, away to Mexico on October 14 and El Salvador on October 17.
The team to play Mexico is expected to comprise much of the squad that competed at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, in June.
Among the professionals expected to be selected are Holland-based Darryl Roberts, Densill Theobald, who is now based in Hungary, England-based Silvio Spann, and United States-based Andre Pacheco and Andre Toussaint.
Still missing are many of the players who represented Trinidad and Tobago at the World Cup Finals in Germany, last June, but who have since been debarred from representing the national team due to a money dispute with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (T&TFF).
Rijsbergen said he will use the players now available to him, but is hoping that the situation with the rest is resolved in the near future.
In recent times, Rijsbergen's programme has been hit by the cancellation of international warm-ups, while CONCACAF giants United States and Mexico have had the opportunity to play the mighty Brazilians.
The Dutch coach was at the First Citizens Cup double-header, in Arima, on Wednesday night.
"If we are to have a successful build-up, we have to have a good mix of players. Some local and some foreign-based , who have been exposed to a higher intensity of football. A couple of good international games would help at least to give some of the guys exposure to international football.
"The purpose is to see one or two other players and where they are at international level. Everyone understands that we have a long way to go."
Meanwhile, Lincoln Phillips, T&T football's technical director, feels that T&T should have played many more such matches at this stage.
"It's quite unfortunate that we have not played as many matches. At this stage we are still ahead in the ball game, but not by far. We have never started our programme immediately after the World Cup, we usually wait two years before doing something. It would definitely be better for us to be playing games, regardless of which teams we play."
Seniors likely to get friendlies next month.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).
[/size]

Trinidad and Tobago's Senior Team could have a friendly lined up against CONCACAF giants Mexico next month.. The T&T Football Federation is in the process of finalizing the match to allow head coach Wim Rijsbergen some friendlies before the end of the year with South Africa World Cup 2010 qualification starting in June next year.
The Mexico game, if finalized will be played there on October 14 with a second friendly away to El Salvador carded for two days later. A previous encounter this month against Guatemala in Miami was called off.
Rijsbergen will invite 20 players for training including some overseas-based pros such as Densill Theobald, Silvio Spann, Darryl Roberts, and ex-W Connection duo Andrei Pacheco and Andre Toussaint. He still does not have the availability of players involved in an impasse with the Federation.
Mexico are coming off a 3-1 loss to Brazil and Rijsbergen will be keen to get the much needed match practice.
"Of course it will be good for us but we also need the people to realise that we are still just looking to find players and see how they fit in at that higher level. It's important that we continue this process because we are still hoping to have our best team by the time the qualifiers come around."

headline should read
"Warriors MIGHT tackle Mexican"  not sure yet

WCQ '88: TnT - 0 Honduras - 0, in the Oval. For some reason TnT wore a light blue kit in d first half and changed at half time  :D

That was my first game too dong in the oval.
T&T wear white in the first half jus like Honduras, and change to the light blue in the second half.

that was the first time ah hear bout Dwight Yorke, he was like 17 or 18 and he came on as ah sub in de second half, that was pressure.

We draw nil nil, but was one of the best days in in my life.

Football / Re: Summary
« on: May 24, 2007, 09:54:10 AM »
So lets get this straight

The Players have said they are not on strike and are available to play for Trinidad.
The players have said they are available to talk with the TTFF

The TTFF has said there is no "jack" List and all players who the coach requested are available
The TTFF has also said they are available for talks

Jack Warner has said he is out of the Loop and the TTFF is handeling the issue, if asked he will intervene.

The Coach has said he can only pick players who are made available to him by the TTFF. On top of that he assumes that players who are missing from training are siding with the striking players who are really not on strike.

Players are not on Strike.
TTFF not banning anybody
Coaching staff dont even know who is supposed to be in Training.

Even if everything is resolved, because if you listen to both sides there is really nothing to resolve, How can this team get together to go and play games in the next 2-3 weeks.

Rigth about now the only people profiting is Zen because them men and them in Trinidad partying day and night because season done and they not training.

Party Time!
Limers come forth!

Not even Zen might be profiting, .......beacuse word around town iz dem in all kinda hot water too.

DWIGHT: I SAID NO TO RON

MORE than 400 species of birds inhabit Trinidad's islands including the ibis, heron,, pelican and blue-footed booby

How does this tie in with the article

Maybe Ron hates birds, too. But most people think he is a very fowl man.
