Intercontinental play-off schedule confirmed
10 September 2005
by FIFAworldcup.com

The draw to determine the schedule for the play-off matches for the remaining places at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germanyâ„¢ was made on Saturday at the 55th FIFA Congress in Marrakesh.
The first of the intercontinental play-offs pairs the fifth-placed nation from Asia with the team finishing fourth in the North, Central America and the Caribbean. The second play-off pairs the winner of the Oceania qualifying tournament with the nation finishing fifth in South America.

FIFA General Secretary Urs Linsi made the following draw in the Salle Diamant of the Sofitel hotel in the Moroccan capital:

First leg, 12 November 2005
4th team CONCACAF v 5th team AFC
5th team CONMEBOL v 1st team Oceania (Australia)

Second leg, 16 November 2005
5th team AFC v 4th team CONCACAF
1st team Oceania (Australia) v 5th team CONMEBOL

In Asia, Uzbekistan and Bahrain will meet on 8 and 12 October to determine which nation goes forward to the intercontinental play-offs. Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Korea Republic have already qualified from the Asian Zone. Uzbekistan or Bahrain will meet the team finishing fourth in the CONCACAF Zone, where Costa Rica, Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago are in contention. The United States and Mexico are already sure of places in Germany.

This is excellent news... because we would have de advantage of playing de first leg at home first...

We will be well rested (hopefully) while they will have to fly halfway around de world to play us (some of our players too).... then turn round and fly back halfway around de world to play us again in 4 days....
THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES

If u put it like that FF then it seems like good news, but i however, always like to go into a game knowing exactly what u have to do.

Whatever happens during our leg, the asian team will know how to approach the game and they will be carrying out that approach in their own back yard!

Ps:- i dont like the subject of this topic!!! what do u mean "is this of interest to us?  Of course it it!!!!!!!!!

THATS IF WE BEAT PANAMA AND MEXICO......, ALSO GUATEMALA WILL HAVE TO LOSE ALL THEIR MATCHES WHICH IS UNLIKELY
 :-X

U have it wrong, Guat does not have to lose ALL their games. They just have to stick to the plot and lose as usual in Mexico and they could even win their last game, all we need to do is win our next 2 games.
Easy like squezy.

What are you basing this on? How many of us actually see any of those teams play?
According to the FIFA ranking, they in the same cluster as T&T.

Here is video highlights of a game they played in the 2004 Asia cup between the 2 of them. Not much to make any judgements, but nice attacks tho..

Anyhow, we should be focussing on the next 2 games ahead of us.

No team that reach this far come to roll over for nobody.
Expect dem to have a real hostile home environment and playing at 90 come game time.
They look like they is get pumped up so we betta not be sleeping if w lucky enuff to be talking bout this later.

I wudn't feel like we reach anywhere till we do the business and we hadda start hitting stride and taking points NOW.

Yeah i figured those would be the dates, the teens in November. The biggest problem is the turnaround time. We playing on the 12th and probably have a day's travelling to Asia, so tha's the 13th gone. Train on the 14th, rest on the 15th, game on the 16th. And men have to get acclimatised in that short space of time?

We better keep a cleansheet in Port Of Spain cause one away goal by them and anything could happen across there...

Look at it this way WE have the ADVANTAGE!

They have to travel half way around the world TWICE!....we have to do it ONCE.

This is a big advantage right there. I know is home and away goals rule so we have to keep a clean sheet or win 2-0 or 3-0.
and just draw in the away match.

Also I think the TT squad should tell they managers f&*k away and for the two week-month before the match come down let them fellas go into a camp and train like fuss time. It is the last hurrah!!

I feel is less pressure to seal the deal away rather than at home.
