First of all, half the stuff written in that Mirror story above is wholly manufactured for impact. This is how the English tabloids work, they have to stuff it with as much "new information" on the scandal as possible to grab the readership from the maccoing public.
All this talk about "Bridge poured his heart out to Terry", "Disgusted chelsea teammates are slamming terry", "make excuses to sneak out on long suffering wife Toni" is so obviously constructed that it is laughable. They don't know all of that and they don't have credible sources.
I live in England long enough to know how it does work. Anytime you see these phrase, "A senior insider reveal"... "a source close to x said"... "friends of x have confirmed"... then you know that nonsense is manufactured by a man sitting behind a computer and forwarding script to the editor.
And this is yet another reason why England will never win a World Cup.
Their media is a microcosm of a general public that does tote feelings too frigging much. Had this happened in Italy or other more liberal countries, I will go out on a limb to say that their FA, media houses and people with influence would be complicit in maintaining a lid on the affair in the interest of the national team i.e. lets not make it a big deal lest it derails our chances so close to a World Cup. Not that I don't think it would come out, I just do not think it would ever be such a big deal. As a comparison, the Italian Prime Minister self is a serial philanderer yet it is moreless accepted. Imagine if it ever came out that Gordon Brown was takin play on the side.
Rest assured in England this story have plenty miles to run and rest assured it will have an impact on their World Cup preparations.
