Last year, the Champions League games hosted in Trinidad were poorly attended and Shabazz feels that CONCACAF should initiate a public awareness plan to better highlight the importance of the CCL to the teams and its supporters particularly from the Caribbean.

No, No! Jamal. That is your club, your sponsor and the pro-league job. Is your home game. How long you in this football business. You should have the whole of Laventille, Morvant, Barataria are your disposal. There is no Jabloteh anymore. Try and get some Croisee fans.
I agree with you to a certain extent but this is a team from T&T and i think the whole Football fraternity should be behind them, from the time a team from any where in the country representing us the game changes,i'm surprised i don't hear the TTFA involved more in this, these are some of the reasons why Football is so messed up in the country because everybody on their own and seeing about themselves,it's always about i and me but where is the us?no wonder it was not well supported when it was hosted in T&T,could u imagine that happening in the other countries.

Coops, Blessings, Blessings. Coops, as much as TTFA running the football, clubs should not depend on them to do everything.  Jamal organization should be "littering" there area with flyers to come down in HCS for the game. Then they should get their spnsors the buy air time to advertise the game on TV, radio, newspapers and twitter and face book.

The days for people to just show up just  for footie are long gone. Football aficionados, potential fans and the wagonists, have all lost the passion and respect for the local game, except small goal. We have to rebuild the passion and earn the respect. The proleague and their sponsors, the club and their sponsors should be spear-heading these types of endeavours. There is no other way forward. The football fraternity must be a self-help entity.

It is a pity Cale don't have their own grounds somewhere closer to Morvant, Laventille, Barataria area

Cale used to play their home games on George's grounds back in the day, but that isn't exactly a stadium, just grounds with some bleachers.  Growing up was fun, walk a few blocks to take in Cale and a few more to take in BBP  :beermug:

The complete 2013/2014 schedule for the Group Stage of the CONCACAF Champions League was released earlier today by the tournament organizers.

Set to begin just over a month from today in the first week of August 2013, local football giants DIRECTV W Connection FC who were drawn in Group 1 along with The Houston Dynamo of the American MLS and Arabe Unido of Panama will meet each team twice in a home and away series for the group stage which kicks off on August 6th 2013.

This being his sixth campaign at the CONCACAF level, Technical Director and Head Coach Stuart Charles Fevrier is optimistic that his boys can achieve their objective of winning the group. Of his opponents Fevrier concedes that they will be challenging, but it is a challenge that he is up for.

The DIRECTV sponsored team will end the first stage of their Champions League campaign on the road where they will meet the Houston Dynamo’s on Wednesday 25th September at the BBVA Compass Stadium; the same venue for the CONCACAF Gold Cup Group B matches in which the Trinidad and Tobago Men’s Senior team will play against Haiti, Honduras and El Salvador later this month.

I agree, however, the media have a huge role to play. When Walsall were here, the only coverage was from our press releases. There should have been requests for interviews, features on Walsalls history and key players, features about other overseas clubs to visit in the past etc. The newspapers here are so full of adverts, no one can be bothered reading them, so why not put something interesting in them?
Where are the Gold Cup pull outs? CCL pull outs? TTProleague season previews? Super League pre views?
The sports press has no imagination and no pride in its local teams. In such a small country, how can people still not be aware there is a professional league?

the pro league may have to have its own media department not just a website to make sure its message gets out.

FS --- this is where the team ownership/management comes in.  They are supposed to have their own public relations person or department whose job it is to laison with the media, and basically 'hype' everything.  Yes, it will be good to see the media personalities take an interest etc, but the media is profit driven just like any viable industry.  If the public does not take much of an interest in a team or in the league, the media will therefore also not have an interest since the league wouldn't help it sell papers or grow ratings.  And of course they (the media) will not automatically take it upon themselves to freely promote the teams.

That 'job' typically falls on the door-steps of each team, and the league in general.    :beermug:

This version of the 2013 CCL represents another defining moment for football in TnT. It will be a testament to the skills, talent, and the professionalism of players and the league, but more importantly, it will prove to those who care how good the two coaches of the two teams from TnT are. As everyone knows, behind every great team, there is supposed to be a great coach. You can have the most talented group of players in the world, but without someone to guide and contain all those egos and help them to improve, it counts for nothing.
This version of WConnection is an impressive one, it's a very talented team, on paper. The spending power of the owner, David Williams, is commendable and duly noted. He is proving that he wants to win this tournament. Why else would he provide his coaching staff with the players to win. The signing of the Brazilian defender and Italian striker is definitely a step in the right direction. Along with the playmaking ability of players like Jomal Williams, Matthew Woo Ling, Joevin Jones, if he is healthy, the silky smooth Jem Gordon, the steadiness of Clyde Leon and supporting cast, head coach Fevrier has to mold his team into a championship contender outside of the domestic league. If he cannot mold this team into a CCL champion, if he gets knocked out of the tournament at the group stage, it could mean the end of his stint at WConnection, but it would certainly be a shinning example of why football is in trouble in TnT.
I am the punishment of God...If you had not comitted great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.

Unlike the WC and the GC, the road to this competition goes thru Mexico city and mostly Mexican teams does prevail. But LA could do it if it reaches the final. Anything can happen in a final.

W Connection releases 30-man squad ahead of CCL kick-off.
W Connection Release.

On Thursday 1st August, just one week before they are set to meet their first opponent in the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL), DIRECTV W Connection Head Coach and Technical Director Stuart Charles Fevrier named his 30 man roster.

Running just short of thirty names with a squad of 27, Fevrier has left room for three additions as the competition progresses. The Savonetta Boys will meet Arabe Unido on Thursday 8th August at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium in Panama.

The squad, which will be captained by National Team standout Joevin Jones, boasts six new foreign signings in the likes of 24 year-old Italian striker Mirko Delia, 21 year-old Brazilian right-back Joao Ananias Jordao Jr, Midfielder Celio Guilherme Da Silva Santos – 25 also of Brazil, and three Colombian additions spotted while on pre-season tour – 21 year-old Midfielders Yhon Reyes Lopez and Yefer Lozano Rubiano, and 23 year-old Striker Camilo Ortega Diaz.

Also included are youngsters Neil Benjamin and Jomal ‘Beebo’ Williams who were omitted from last year’s Champions League campaign due to National duties with the Under-20 Team.

While on tour, they played several training matches in preparations for their Champions League fixtures.

Against Club America, they were defeated 2-0, secured a win against FC Orsomarso with 4 goals to their 2 contributed by Neil Benjamin, Jerrel Britto, Silvio Spann, and Jomal Willams; as well as a 5 nil win over Deportivo Cordoba with goals by Neil Benjamin, Kurt Frederick, Andrei Pacheco, Celio Da Silva and Joevin Jones.

In their final training game on Sunday 4th against FC Florida, they were defeated 2-1 with the lone goal being scored by Mekeil Williams. The team is still on tour in Cali Colombia and will fly directly to Panama on Tuesday 6th August.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

No explanation as to why Jem Gordon and Matthew Woo Ling didn't make the team. No respect for the fans of those players.

I believe Gem Gordon was on trial with W. I see they have 14 foreign players out of 29 - just under 50%. Interesting.

The owner of the club owns a construction business, is that not the case? Correct me!! This has been so from the get go. Apart from DF, W Connection and Jabloteh were the most professional of all the teams in the league. John Williams run a tight shift.
