New Jersey Teens Attack People With Knockout Game !!!!

New York Appears to be the Epicenter of Attacks

There have been nine reported attack in New York alone since September. Though attacks have occurred across the nation, on November 19, a 23-year-old college student, was attacked as part of the "game." She has declined to be identified, reports KMOV. The college student will require surgery on her left eye after being hit.

In Washington, a woman, who had been struck, didn't know about the "game" until she posted about her ordeal on Facebook. Phoebe Connolly was lucky to escape with just a bloody nose after being struck. She tells WJLA:
Quote
I posted something on Facebook, and a friend of mine said, 'Oh, that sounds like the knockout game.' And I'd never heard of it.
She went on to say that after googling the neighborhood, Columbia Heights, she found out that the same thing had happened there the previous night before her attack. She added that she works with teens for a living, saying:
Quote
Are they going to take somebody's money? Are they going to take their cell phone? No, they're just going to knock you out. There's no purpose for it whatsoever.

Teen Playing 'Knockout Game' Shot Twice by Victim
by AWR Hawkins 21 Nov 2013

A teen playing the "Knockout Game" in Lansing, Michigan unwittingly targeted a concealed carry permit holder and was shot twice. He survived and is now in jail.

As Breitbart News previously reported, the "Knockout Game" thrives in areas where victims are unarmed. In the "game," teens approach a stranger on the sidewalk or in an alley and punch the stranger in an attempt to knock him or her out. A punch that results in a knockout scores one point.

WILX in Lansing reported that teenager Marvell Weaver, who is black, tried to knock out a father who was standing at a bus stop waiting for his daughter to arrive. Instead of simply punching the father, Weaver tried a variation on the "game" by trying to taze the man. The taser malfunctioned, and the father pulled a .40 cal handgun and shot the teenager twice.

Weaver admits to previously knocking out six or seven people on other days before targeting the man who shot him. He said being shot by the father at the bus stop was "a lesson learned."

Weaver is now serving one year in jail.

And now a Trini youth in New York gets involved in this foolish game. :-[

'Knockout game' leads to arrests, more police patrols
Marisol Bello , USA TODAY 5:24 p.m. EST November 23, 2013

The dangerous "knockout" attacks on strangers in large U.S. cities are leading to arrests, more officers flooding the streets and more warnings for vigilance among an unsuspecting public.

Perpetrators have dubbed the violent practice as the "knockout game," where teens try to randomly knock out strangers with one punch.

The attacks have raised concerns across the country. Recent attacks have occurred in New York, New Haven, Conn., Washington, D.C. and suburban Philadelphia. But the violent attacks go back several years. In 2011, St. Louis, Mo. had a rash of incidents, one of which led to the killing of a Vietnamese immigrant.

Some of the assaults are recorded and posted on social media by the attackers.

In New York, police have charged Amrit Marajh, 28, with two felony hate crimes after they said he assaulted a 24-year-old Jewish man wearing a yarmulke Friday in Brooklyn, NYPD Sgt. Carlos Nieves said.

Marajh, who is Trinidadian, was talking about the knockout games with three other men and said an anti-Semitic statement just before the incident, Nieves said.

All four men were taken into police custody shortly after the 2:45 a.m. attack, but Nieves said only Marajh participated in the assault.

Marajh, of Brooklyn, is charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime, assault as a hate crime and misdemeanor assault, Nieves said. The victim was not seriously injured.

New York police Sgt. Brendan Ryan said in an e-mail that extra officers have been assigned to the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn. The NYPD wouldn't confirm how many knockout assaults have happened so far.

The attacks in New York have racial overtones because the attackers are black and the victims have been Jewish.

In New Haven, Conn., police spokesman David Hartman said police are investigating six incidents in the last month as part of the knockout trend. He said investigators have identified three people of interest, though no arrests have been made.

He said no one suffered serious injuries in any of the cases. But as a result of the attacks, he said, more undercover officers are patrolling downtown and a neighborhood called South Hill, where five of the assaults occurred.

"I think the fact that this has been labeled a game is sickening," Hartman said. "This is not a game. This is violent."

Will Marling, the executive director of the National Organization for Victim Assistance, said this trend is not an epidemic.

"But it could be the start of one," he said, because the attacks have a social media component that could go viral. "As experience shows, other kids will see this is an easy thing to do and then it becomes group think."

He said the attacks are an example of why there is a need for a deeper conversation with young people about respect.

Michelle Boykins, a spokeswoman for the National Crime Prevention Council, said what is so disturbing about the trend is that it is so random and the intent is to hurt someone seriously.

She said that the instances often involve someone walking alone, so she suggests the tried-and-true ways to stay safe: walk with a friend and always remain aware of your surroundings.

"There is safety in numbers," she said. "And if you are by yourself, there is nothing wrong for you to decide to cross the street if you see a group of people walking toward you."

Crown Heights 'Knockout Game' Victim Speaks Out

http://www.youtube.com/v/qab_YYJI5OI

ALBANY, N.Y. -- A New York state legislator said it's time to crack down on the violent "knockout game" in which youths sucker punch innocent bystanders for kicks.

Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, R-Schenectady, said Thursday that his bill would make the violent game a gang assault with a sentence of up to 25 years. Youths would be charged as adults.

"They want to be big shots and big men ... so they should have a big law to protect the innocent law-abiding citizens," Tedisco told WCBS 880. "Clearly, these are not young gentlemen — they're punks, they're thugs, they're cowards."

Tedisco said his measure is intended to be a deterrent to stop the game in which participants try to punch a stranger so hard they are rendered unconscious, often while other youths record the attack for online sites.

His bill will also include prison time for convicted accomplices who watch or record the assaults.

State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, has written to President Barack Obama and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, urging federal action against "knockout game" attacks.

There have been seven so-called "knockout" or "polar bear" assaults in the Crown Heights and Midwood sections of Brooklyn since October, police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Wednesday.

The alternate name "polar bearing" comes from the fact that the victims are white.

A string of attacks on religious Jews were also reported in Crown Heights in recent weeks.

A 12-year-old Jewish boy who was a "knockout" victim two weeks ago told CBS 2′s Tony Aiello in an exclusive interview that he's more interested in an apology than seeing his attackers go to jail.

The yeshiva student, who is devoutly religious, thinks a mandatory moment of silence in public schools would help.

"I think this could have all been prevented," said the boy, who asked not to be identified.

"The boys and teens who know that there's always a God watching them, and they wouldn't only be afraid of the police," he added.

Last week, the boy's father told CBS 2 that after his son was struck at random by a group of teenagers, one gave "a hysterial, happy shout: 'We got him.'"

Leaders in the black community said they share the concerns of their Jewish neighbors and they're urging parents to talk to their children about the consequences if they take part in the game.

"To go around and harm just anybody on the premise that you want to show your bravado is not to be accepted in our community, in Crown Heights, in Brownsville or anywhere else for that matter," said Tony Herbert, an activist with the National Action Network. "Keep your hands to yourself. That is stupid."

The latest known victim was a 78-year-old woman attacked a week ago Saturday in Midwood. The victim's daughter said her mother was attacked in broad daylight by a young man who walked toward her, balled up his fist and hit her with all his might on the top of her head then ran off.

"She had her purse. She had bags from department stores. There was not even an attempt to take anything from her," the daughter told CBS 2′s Dave Carlin. "It was just a wanton act to hurt another human being."

Kelly said several victims have not reported the incidents because no robbery is involved.

"I would like to urge anyone who has been victimized by this to come forward and let us know," said the police commissioner. "In order for us to respond, we have to have this information."

Police patrols have been stepped up in central Brooklyn in response to the incidents.

City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., D-Queens, the chair of the council's Public Safety Committee, is urging a serious NYPD response.

"I've already written to Ray Kelly. I want to know what we're going to do about it," he said. "These kids need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and we need to ensure that this doesn't keep happening."

Meanwhile, the Guardian Angels will be on patrol in Brooklyn, where there have been a number of so-called "knockout" incidents in recent weeks.

"People need to know what to look out for," Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, told 1010 WINS. They need to get in touch with the police right away, and if it comes to it, let the Guardian Angels knock out the guys looking to play 'knockout' before they can do any more damage."

In Paterson, N.J., police have been looking into an attack on a Bengali student to see if it was part of the 'knockout' trend.

"Some black boy hit him in the face," said a girl who knows the victim.

Back in September, 46-year-old Ralph Santiago of Hoboken, N.J., was killed after his head was slammed into an iron fence. The three arrested, who police said were captured on video, were just 13 and 14 years old.

Videos posted online have shown "knockout" incidents from Washington, D.C., to Pittsburgh to London.

Check this video out! It is long but it’s a must view and exposes the myth currently being promoted by the media that the "The Knockout Game" is a growing phenomena amongst Black kids. It is something they would like Black youngsters to believe is trendy and to foolishly follow but it is not really the reality yet despite the misleading media reports.

We have to be very vigilant regards stuff we swallow as factual that is being promoted by the racist media with their own agenda to put as many Black men as possible in prison.

This stems from the "happy slapping" craze in the UK from a couple of years back, but they just slapped - very hard - victims on buses and filmed the attacks to post on you tube.

It was alleged to originally be an initiation to city centre gangs.

Reports: Alleged trend of 'knockout game' a myth (USA Today)

News outlets say there is no data to support notion that 'knockout game' is growing trend.

Some news organizations are refuting the existence of an alleged phenomenon known as the "knockout game" that has been the subject of media warnings in recent weeks.

According to reports by CNN, the Today show, USA TODAY and others, the game takes place when young people randomly assault strangers in an attempt to knock them out with one punch.

The attacks are leading to arrests, more officers on the streets and warnings for vigilance among the public, law enforcement officials and victims advocates told USA TODAY. In New Haven, Conn., police spokesman David Hartman said police are investigating six incidents in the past month as possible "knockouts."

But police officials in several cities where the attacks have been reported say the knockout game is an urban myth, and that attacks that have received recent attention in the media have been random assaults, the New York Times is reporting.

"We're trying to determine whether or not this is a real phenomenon," the news organization quotes New York police commissioner Raymond Kelly as saying. "I mean, yes, something like this can happen. But we would like to have people come forward and give us any information they have."

A column on Slate.com reports that while the game does exist, there is no hard data to support the notion that it is a growing trend that has reached epidemic levels. It also refutes the suggestion by some news organizations that some of the attacks have been racially motivated.

The Slate piece makes reference to another piece on the patheos.com website that says, "Nobody seems to have any evidence that it's spreading, or that it's new, or that it's racially motivated."

The piece continues, "Most sources claim that it is spreading, and a number of sources claim that it is racially motivated. But how do they know? Where are they getting their data from?"

In New York, reports appear to have blossomed in recent weeks. Two weeks ago, a 78-year-old woman reported she was punched in the head, the Times reports.

The Jewish community has been fearful too. One Hasidic teen said he was approached by eight men and punched in the face by one of them, Democratic New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind told the Times. According to the news organization, the city is panicked.

"It's sick, it's scary," Hikind is quoted as saying.

The Daily Beast reports that assaults with "hands and fists" in America rose .7% from 2011 to 2012, according to the FBI.

"The 'knockout game' may or may not be a new phenomenon, but with a few instances out of tens of thousands of assaults, it's not a trend, and media outlets shouldn't treat it as one," the news organization reports.

Chaos is coming to America’s streets
Dec 01, 2013

There is a hot new game being played in cities all over America, and it is very simple. You pick out a defenseless person on the street and you try to knock them out. In most areas, it is known as “the knockout game”. In some communities it is called by other names such as “point-em-out, knock-em-out” and “polar bear hunting”.

In many instances, the perpetrators don’t even try to steal anything from the people that they knock out. The goal is just to “have fun” by brutally attacking an innocent victim.

Well, if this is what young thugs in America will do for fun when times are still good, what will they be willing to do when our economy really starts falling apart? Yes, the US economy has definitely been steadily declining, but the truth is that what we are experiencing right now is rip-roaring prosperity compared to what is coming in the years ahead. So what will the streets of America look like when things get really bad?

If you have never heard of “the knockout game” before, the following is how USA Today recently described it: “Dangerous “knockout” attacks on strangers are leading to arrests, more officers flooding the streets and more warnings for vigilance by an unsuspecting public. Perpetrators have dubbed the violent practice as the “knockout game,” in which young people try to randomly knock out strangers with one punch. Recent attacks in New York, New Haven, Conn., Washington, D.C. and suburban Philadelphia have raised concerns across the country.”

Of course there are variations on the game. Sometimes the goal is to knock out victims with a single punch, but in other instances entire groups of young thugs attack a victim and the goal is to see who can knock out the victim first.

Most of the time this game does not involve the theft of belongings, but in other cases it does. For example, the following is how one teen described the game: “You just knock them out. You hit them with a blow and you take their belongings.”

Quote
Most of the time, the victims are males. But this is not always true. In fact, the Huffington Post recently reported on an incident in which a 78-year-old grandmother was attacked. Sometimes, the victims of “the knockout game” never get back up. Last year, a 20-year-old college student in Minnesota was killed by a pack of thugs playing the knockout game.
Knockout game deaths have also been reported in Syracuse, in St. Louis and in New Jersey. In the case in New Jersey, the attackers left 46-year-old Ralph Santiago lodged between iron fence posts with a broken neck.

This is not just harmless fun. People are actually dying. Sadly, this is just one more sign that our society is starting to come apart at the seams. Violent crime in America was up 15 percent last year, and an epidemic of very unusual crimes is sweeping the nation.

We are rapidly getting to the point where criminals are becoming so cold-hearted that they will go after just about anyone. For example, in Stockton, California the other day some thugs held an entire youth soccer team at gunpoint with a shotgun.

All of this is happening at a time when police budgets are being deeply cut all over the nation. If you do call the police, they might be able to help you. There are still lots of good cops out there. But if you get a bad cop, you might deeply regret ever picking up that telephone.

In this day and age, it has become much more important for all of us to learn how to defend ourselves. As the US economy spirals downhill, people are going to become increasingly desperate. And desperate people do desperate things. The thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted on a daily basis is beginning to disappear.
