New local reality show, ‘Chick Mansion’ debuts on CCN TV6 next weekend.
By Wayne Bowman (Express).A mansion of maidensYour favourite television station, CCN TV6 will next Saturday July 19 premiere a brand new local reality series titled, Chick Mansion that will have you glued to your seat for two hours on the night of its debut then keep you coming back for more each week for the ten hour-long episodes that will follow.
The basic synopsis of Chick Mansion, we really don’t want to give away too much now and diminish the element of surprise, is that it follows the lives of 14 beautiful young women who live and lime at a beautiful mansion located somewhere here on the island. Some of them stay at the house, while several of them visit and spend time regularly.
They are all friends and share what the producers/directors, brother and sister duo, Dexter Browne and Stacy Browne define as an, “organic relationship”. The ladies are not acting, but are filmed going about their normal daily lives doing what they enjoy as individuals and with each other. The series is executive produced by Buttervision and was filmed using two iphone 5s units under the direction of Dexter Browne who is an internationally acclaimed photographer.
In Chick Mansion the young women discover quite a lot about their respective selves and also learn much about life and being young adults. The show is, however, meant to be fun and very light hearted with the young ladies going out to parties together, exploring various parts of the island, taking trips to Tobago and Jamaica and generally enjoying each other’s company and deepening their united bond of friendship and camaraderie.
With all foreign reality shows that feature people living together or circles of friends there is always a lot of bacchanal, drama, animosities and other negative elements. That will not be the case of Chick Mansion.
According to the producers there will be times when there will be, “A meeting of the minds and clashes of attitudes, but the girls really do enjoy each other’s company and they all allow each other to be themselves. There will be no irresponsible behavior.”
The show is adult viewer oriented in its genesis, but it does not go over the top. The producers offer that it can be considered to be PG13 so families can sit down and watch it together. What Chick Mansion portrays is the exciting energy and talents of each of the cast members in a way the finally exposes the elusive sexy subculture of Trinidad and Tobago. Nothing was ever scripted or rehearsed.
A graduate of Fatima College and also Howard University, Browne worked as a celebrity photographer in Los Angeles where he photographed the likes of Vanessa Williams, Rick James, Gabrielle Union, Tyrese, Kat Williams and many more. His sister, Stacy attended St James Government Secondary School and worked at Caribbean Airlines. Together they conceptualised Chick Mansion and set out to make their vision come to fruition.
“The show is about exploring undisturbed culture. There is no script, no casting, we are all friends and so the interaction comes naturally. We consider ourselves to be digital gorillas doing a lot with very little. We used just the two iphones and did not even use a boom microphone.”
“You see, using larger equipment would have chased who the girls really are because they would have felt that the cameras and lights were invading their space and also that this would demand them being someone other than their true selves. The way we have done things, no one ever feels the presence of the camera or of a crew and what comes out is the true personalities and spirit of the girls.”
“We are very excited over the partnership with CCN TV6. They understood our vision and embraced what we are doing. My sister and I as well as the girls have always enjoyed watching TV6, both the foreign content they choose to air and also the local programming they offer and it is a wonderful thing to have Chick Mansion on TV6. We are looking forward to providing more content to them in the coming years,” Dexter Browne said.
