KEVIN Austin says he is glad the Boston United fans made the trek home from Gainsborough with something to cheer.

After four weeks without a victory, the Pilgrims were back to winning ways at the Northolme, earning a 3-1 success.

And, as well as three points, Boston also earned county bragging rights.

“Players are like fans, they always want to do well against their local rivals,” Austin admitted.

“Our support was great and we’re glad we sent them home happy.” Jason Lee put Boston in front with a rare strike from 20 yards in the 17th minute.

United old boy Shane Clarke drew Trinity level minutes later with a dink over Paul Bastock, before Ben Milnes added another from distance for the away side.

After the break, Marc Newsham put the result beyond doubt from the penalty spot.

He shot past stand-in keeper Gavin Cowan after Dimitar Evtimov was sent off for hauling down Lee.

“It was a great performance, really professional,” added Austin.

“It’s been frustrating lately as we haven’t been winning the points, but today we’re over the moon.

“We played well (against Hyde) last week but never got any points.

“We played the same again, wit intensity, but things went our way.”
