YOUNGSTER Ricky Shakes was picked out for particular praise by his manager while an altogether more experienced player may not be saying goodbye to Wiltshire just yet.

The former's progress during the current boss' tenure has delighted Iffy Onuora and he wants the former Bolton Wanderers man to keep improving.

Shakes' pace has never been in question but the manager feels greater precision is now being shown as well.

He accepts there will be a degree of inconsistency still but Onuora has handed the World Cup hopeful a huge compliment.

He said: "If I had to single out one player I thought Ricky Shakes was fantastic.

"His work rate was unbelievable. Getting up one minute, back the next.

"In terms of honesty and work rate I thought he was phenomenal.

"He was a little bit erratic at first but he's got more confidence in him now.

"He's someone I can hang my hat on a little bit now which is good for him and good for me. We've just had to be patient."
