Malabar Football Club can be clearly considered a title contender for this 2014 TTFA Super League after snapping up some new talents to help win this years title.

Experienced players Gorean Highley, Cyrano Glen, Zane Coker and Keston Pierre together with former Trinidad and Tobago striker Gorean Highley, Kordell Samuel and Kevaughn Connell have all resigned from last season.

The Arima club have signed new additions in Trinidad and Tobago Under 20 striker Kishun Seecharan, former Westside Superstars winger Jack Weadon and defenders Charles Pollard and Orlando Reyes.

In charge of Malabar will be Julius Edwards, who, returns to the helm after Last season’s 3rd place finish.

“We now have a mixture of experience and youth,” explained Malabar General Manager Adrian Romain.

“We want to make sure that in years to come, we always have that balance in terms of experience and youth. With guys like Keston Pierre, Cyrano Glen and Zane Coker at the helm of things, it’s just the youths to come in so we can keep on rotating as time goes on.

We have Nicholas Armstrong, with Super League seasons under his belt, we also have, Kordell Samuel and Kevauhn Cornell. I think we have a good mixture of people who are accustomed winning. And that’s what we need. We now have it this season,” ended Romain.

Pollard, 40, a former Caledonia and North East Stars captain, is returning to Trinidad to take up Player/Coach roll at the Arima Based Club.

The decision to play Super league at age 40 is a very ambitious one said Pollard (with a chuckle). ”I will be doing my coaching and helping the younger guys to understand the game a bit better on and off the field, said the former Guyanese captain.
