The BG Secondary School Football League Premier Division has lived up to the hype thus far.

Some teams will be in tears at the end of the season though, if they finish at the bottom of the league and are relegated. Other schools will be elated to join the prestigious division in the following season.

QRC is one such team aiming for the opening when it arises.

The undefeated Royalians continue to rain goals on their opponents in the Championship division with Joash Williams and Dimietry Dunkeley doing most of the damage.

Head coach Wendell David says his troops are confident and ready for any school that stands in their way.

No school has tested his squad thus far and he is eagerly anticipating their matchup with Trinity College.

Coach David considers it a blessing not participating in the premier division this year as he now has the opportunity to prepare fully and dominate the division upon their arrival next season.

Matches appear to be a little more competitive in the east with Barataria South, El Dorado East and Sangre Grande with wins in their openers.

The School Buzz was reliably informed to keep eyes on Point Fortin East in the south zone who also has set its sights on premier division status. All the early predictions are in—let’s wait and see how it unfolds.

Green Machine girls stay unbeaten

The “Green Machine” girls are making up for what the boys are struggling to get done in the Premier division. The St Augustine Championship division Girls team are undefeated and seem like the outright favourite in the East thus far.

With a well-rounded, eager unit of skilled players, they are almost unstoppable.

Opposing teams have to overcome the challenge of getting past goalkeeper Portious Warren, who commands her troops from the back.

Teams also have to contend with the scoring duo of Laurel Theodore and Kaeid Johnson upfront.

Head coach Desiree Sarjeant, who has been with the school since 1998 loves her team’s chances this year.

She is approaching the season cautiously though, taking it one game at a time and not underestimating any of her opponents.

They play host to Bishop’s Anstey East on Thursday; the School Buzz will be on site to witness the showdown.
