Jason ScotlandSwansea City striker Jason Scotland had Swans fans jumping for joy in pubs and living rooms on Saturday night as his double strike in front of the live Sky cameras sunk Burnley at Turf Moor.

But Scotland's double didn't have the same dramatic affect as his two goals against Wolves earlier in the season when he sent one female Swans fan into labour!

Pregnant Linda Vernon turned up with husband Ian to watch her first Swans game at the Liberty Stadium and took her seat in the South 'Family' Stand. And despite the fact that she was just six weeks away from her big day, she was expecting a quiet afternoon.

Not that it turned out that way!

"Being a big Swans fan all my life I had been nagging Linda to come to a Swans game since we moved to the Liberty,'' explained husband Ian. "I finally persuaded her to come to the Wolves game.

"When Jason scored his first goal she stayed in her seat while everyone else was up celebrating. I had to explain to her that she was allowed to celebrate as well.

"As it happened, Jason scored again and in fairness to Linda she got into the swing of it and was up off her seat jumping about.

"I think she over-celebrated because the next thing I knew she said her waters had broken. I didn't believe her at first because she still had six weeks to go before the due date.

"I phoned SingletonHospital half hoping they would say to come down after the game, but they wanted her in straight away. I couldn't leave her go one her own could I?''

Baby Bethany Sky was born premature at 10.40pm that night and spent the next four weeks in hospital before the Vernon family finally returned home with a beautiful and healthy baby girl.

"All through the pregnancy we were told it was going to be a boy,'' added Ian. "So on the way to hospital we had already decided to call the baby Jason - until a girl emerged that was.''

Scotland, oblivious to what was going on while he was guiding the Swans to a memorable 3-1 win, was told the good news the following day as he made his way to Trinidad & Tobago for international duty.

"My friend Karl Howard sent him a message via his Facebook page,'' added Ian. "Jason said sorry about that, but congratulations.''

The Swans got them all together for a special 'Jack Mag' photo-shoot at the Liberty Stadium where Scotland got to meet baby Bethany Sky and the family for the first time.

The striker was the perfect host, although he received a few strange stares from his team-mates when it was announced that "Jason's baby has arrived!''

"It's not what you think,'' he told them with his usual huge smile and loud laugh. "I just bring babies into this world!''

With the photo-shoot over, Scotland had secured himself a few more fans - and one just a few weeks old.

"It was nice of Jason to take the time to meet us,'' explained Linda. "I can see myself coming to a few more games in the future.

"Ian had been nagging me for five years to go to a game and I really enjoyed it. I don't think I'll go again if I'm pregnant though!''
