Falkirk consider link with Suan Juan Jabloteh.

Falkirk could agree a tie-up with San Juan Jabloteh after entering talks with the Trinidad & Tobago champions. The Caribbean side, managed by former England and Spurs player Terry Fenwick, have just ended a two-week tour of Scotland and could agree a deal soon.

Fenwick, who saw a similar proposal with Celtic fall through, said: "We are talking to Falkirk and are keen to stay in contact.

"If we could do something in the long-term it would be great. They were top class with us. We used their Stirling University base, which is a world-class facility. It's miles in front of anything we could dream about in Trinidad and Tobago. It was eye-opening.

"There is interest in three or four of our players from Falkirk and we are trying to establish links with a UK club." Bairns boss John Hughes admitted a deal is a possibility. He said: "I'm delighted we helped San Juan out. A couple of their players caught Russell Latapy's eye so we'll take it from there."

Jabloteh too good for Rangers.

Jabloteh too good for Rangers.
T&T Express Reports.

Defending T&T Pro League champions CLICO San Juan Jabloteh showed yesterday that they will again be a handful in 2008, hammering St Ann's Rangers 5-0 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.

Recent Trinidad and Tobago call-up Atullah Guerra struck the first blow in the 35th, opening the floodgates for Jabloteh.

Antiguan marksman Peter Byers, the League's leading scorer for 2007, added the next seven minutes after the restart, before former national Under-17 player Robert Primus followed up with a goal of his own in the 63rd.

Gason Gregory (65th) and Trent Noel (69th) completed the rout with a goal each and Rangers had no answer to the heavy scoring.

At the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, home team Joe Public were comfortable 3-1 winners over Ma Pau thanks to a Kerry Baptiste double, with the newcomers getting a 90th minute consolation goal from Rennie Britto.

And Tobago United promised a better season than they had last year, gaining a 2-1 victory over North East Stars at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium.

Yesterday's T&T Pro League Scores:

Joe Public 3 (Kerry Baptiste 52nd, 57th; Keyeno Thomas 70th) v Ma Pau 1 (Rennie Britto 90th)

Jabloteh 5 ( Atullah Guerra 35th; Peter Byers 52nd; Robert Primus 63rd; Gason Gregory 65th; Trent Noel 69th) v Superstar Rangers 0

Tobago Utd 2 (Collie Hercules 31st, Kayode Mc Kinnon 40th) v North East Stars 1 (Uz Taylor 60th)
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Jabloteh overcome Caledonia hurdle.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Stallions hobbled

Underestimate Clico San Jan Jabloteh at your own peril. Much has been said of the defending Pro League champion football team's supposedly unsporting tactics in the transfer market and the sometimes abrasive touchline behaviour of head coach Terry Fenwick. But the root of Jabloteh's success runs deeper than a hefty cheque book and raucous boss.

Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA got close to a result on Saturday night before Jabloteh captain Trent Noel decided the contest, 2-1 in favour of the San Juan club, with a breathtaking stoppage time free kick. Champions make their own luck.

The "Eastern Stallions" played their trademark fluent football in spurts but, on the balance of play, Jabloteh were marginally better. Neither team lacked motivation or ambition but Jabloteh won the majority of their individual battles around the field.

Caledonia coach Jamaal Shabazz expressed outrage at Jabloteh's pre-season poaching of former talisman and 2007 Pro League MVP Marvin Oliver and their alleged overtures towards St Lucian star and team captain Sheldon Emmanuel. Emmanuel, according to Shabazz, was so distracted by Jabloteh's illegal approaches that the coach decided to omit arguably his most valuable player for the key weekend match-up.

Saturday was billed as a day of revenge for the have-nots against the supposedly arrogant champions. Jabloteh do not appear to need motivational gimmicks to spur on their employees, though, as just crossing the white line in a green shirt seems a victory in itself.

Oliver started proceedings on the substitutes' bench as did defenders Karlon Murray, Jason Cudjoe and Nigel Daniel-Murray and Cudjoe were stalwarts in Jabloteh's title success last season while Daniel has 26 international caps and is still in his mid-20s.

Fenwick is neither a respecter of reputations nor a slave to sentiment and his fearless nature was replicated in the approach of his youthful squad.

Caledonia midfielder and 2006 World Cup player Densill Theobald must have considered the Jabloteh meeting as a perfect opportunity to remind local fans of what he has to offer but 20-year-old Jabloteh playmaker Ataullah Guerra and his teenaged teammate Devon Jamerson were not in an indulgent mood.

Caledonia started brighter with a high press and the fleet footed work of Hayden Tinto and Kendall Velox but, as soon as Jabloteh started to physically impose themselves, they went ahead.

Another teenager, Robert Primus, got the opener with an opportunistic close ranged finish in the 35th minute as Caledonia goalkeeper Michael Woods and defender Howard Lowe distracted each other from the task of clearing a Jabloteh set piece.

The deficit should have doubled, three minutes later, as Antiguan marksman Peter Byers failed to convert after a Guerra through pass found him in space behind the Caledonia defence.

Caledonia were first out the blocks again in the second half as winger Abdullah Phillips went close before striker Nigel Codrington was barged over by Primus in the opposing penalty area. Referee Nigel Roberts looked the other way.

Caledonia finally caught a break in the 57th minute with a touch of class from Theobald whose threaded pass to Velox panicked Jabloteh goalkeeper Daurance Williams into bringing down the veteran Vincentian.

Kareem Joseph's mocked his "Tiny" stage name with a defiant penalty kick down the middle as Williams dived to his left.

Within seconds, Fenwick introduced Oliver while former Vibe CT 105 W. Connection talisman Earl Jean also came off the bench. But Caledonia looked good enough to preserve the point.

At the 90th minute mark, Caledonia had possession deep in Jabloteh territory too. But another ponderous touch from Theobald allowed right back Elton John to strip him before launching a counter-attack that was ended crudely by Caledonia captain Charles Pollard, 23 yards from his own goal.

Noel did not disappoint with a brilliant curler into the near corner that gave Woods no chance. The captain has now managed a goal in each of his last three outings.

Last season, Bmobile Joe Public coach Michael McComie spoke disparagingly about Jabloteh's effort to conquer the local competition with "kids". But it is Fenwick's ability to spot and inspire new, youthful talent that remains his club's best asset.

For all their bluster and despite the close result, Saturday's outing was a wake-up call to Caledonia and their playmaker, Theobald. Jabloteh set a high standard to match.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Nice report Lasana... give us the line up and subs next time...  ;)

Roberts Primus was a boss in his school days. Still very young, he was part of the T&T under 17 team that when to the finals last year.

Both Fenwick and Maturana seems like they have nuff faith in the youths...

Glad to see Theobald is back, hope he do well. He is still a very good option for T&T, hopefully Matruana will find the rightful place for him.

I take it Jemmott still injured. ? The trail man.

Yes I like these little passages here. Enough gladhanding and giving spots based on seniority. Fenwick could be a caca-hole when he ready, but the man seriously helping to change the old-style footbal culture in T&T. It eh no coincidence that Jabloteh winning individual battles on the field. Like a next fella say, them young boys eh looking to sit in no old man man lap.

Nice to see  a few T&T young bloods and pro-league B team vets (so far) could still beat Guyana National team  + Theobald 8). I looking for some great things from Elton John, Marcano, Peltier and Guerra after all he talk. Keep up the good work boys.

Now if only f%@#$ing Pro-League get their blasted act together and fix the @%%*%^ web site

San Juan Jabloteh go top.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Fenwick defends meek Marvin

Defending T&T Pro League champions, Clico San Juan Jabloteh, went on top the league standings for the first time in 2008 after a hard fought 1-0 win over W. Connection at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Tuesday night.

There was little daylight between two of Trinidad and Tobago's most powerful domestic outfits. But a look at the Jabloteh bench, which included local starlet Ataullah Guerra, former national full back Nigel Daniel, ex-Connection captain Earl Jean and the Antiguan strike duo of Gayson Gregory and Peter Byers, suggested that the eastern team might hold the edge on quality.

An assured header from Jabloteh defender Karlon Murray in the 69th minute was a worthy match winner although Connection coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier will rue a costly miss, 11 minutes earlier, from striker Oscar Torijano who was thwarted by goalkeeper Daurance Williams when clean through.

"It was two good sides canceling each other out," said Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick. "We got the drop of luck we needed We marginally were the better side."

Jabloteh are now the only unbeaten team in the Pro League after United Petrotrin were shocked 2-1 by Ma Pau SC on Tuesday.

Fenwick's men will not be easily beaten this year. No news there. But the bit-part role of dreadlocked midfield maestro Marvin Oliver in their campaign thus far does take some believing, particularly by anyone who saw the beanpole attacker's tremendous 2007 season.

Oliver's protracted move from Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA to Jabloteh in the pre-season was a point of much debate three months ago. But San Juan fans might not be alone in wondering what all the fuss was about.

On Tuesday, the 33-year-old reigning Pro League MVP battled gamely but created little of note and was the first change when Jabloteh were still chasing a result.

"Marvin's done some good things," said Fenwick. "But when the game quickens up, particularly at the pace that we play, I think it is hard for his legs to keep up.

"I think he can be a bit cavalier and gets involved in other people's job around the field and sometimes that affects him physically. I am trying to cut his running distance down so I can get more quality from him in central positions."

Caledonia 's leading man has seemingly become a supporting actor.

"I am using my squad as I see it necessary to win games," said the Jabloteh coach and former England international. "I am a big supporter of Marvin and, whenever he plays in my team, he will be a in a key position where the game revolves around him. He brings a lot of composure and experience on the training ground too and I think he is an inspiration to the younger players...

"As the season wears on and games tighten up and are more like cat and mouse affairs, I always saw Marvin playing a bigger part when his ability should come through. We are coming to that position now."

The epitome of pragmatism in a tracksuit, Fenwick cannot be mistaken for a romantic. But it should matter little to the Jabloteh directors if his team hold their present course.

Connection competed well but never imposed their slick, passing game in Port of Spain on Tuesday. The result was a combative but fragmented match-just the kind that suits a Jabloteh 'smash and grab'.

Referee Rashby McPhie waved red cards at Connection attacker Andre Toussaint and Jabloteh left back Noel Williams, two minutes into the second half, for a flare up near the touchline. The ejections did little to open up the match though and opportunities came through infrequent moments of class rather than from sustained pressure.

Williams (D) and Connection custodian Marvin Phillip managed two superb saves apiece but Murray was the eventual hero with a powerful well placed header after a deep free kick from the equally impressive Trent Noel.

By then, Oliver was looking on from the sidelines. He has been largely peripheral thus far in Jabloteh's title defence. Fenwick reckons his time will come soon.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Ma Pau beat United Petrotrin   :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seems Marvin Oliver decling fast.

Karlon Murray is a boss defender, he just need discipline....

Ataullah Guerra, Nigel Daniel, Earl Jean, Gayson Gregory and Peter Byers on de bench says alot. Jabloteh have a big side and glad to see de locals getting more of a run.. like Elton John, Jamerson, Peltier, Primus, Manners and Marcano...

Didn't know Noel Williams was a left back, I think he use to play striker for Tobago United.

Hopefully Andrei Pacheco and Nigel Daniel step up and reclaim they national team spot, two great left footers....

yea. i haven't seen much of him but he made an impression on me. he had an aggression and a physical presence that stood out.

he and ?keston williams? (think thats his name. played in the el salvador game) are two of the more promising local defenders i've seen in a recent time.

Jabloteh split with top scorer.

Jabloteh split with top scorer.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Clico San Juan Jabloteh's attempt to regain the Pro League mantle is likely to become more difficult after chairman Jerry Hospedales confirmed a parting of ways with Antigua star striker Peter Byers, his compatriot, Gayson Gregory, and St Vincent forward Shandell Samuel. The split was not amicable.

Byers, the Pro League's top scorer last season and Jabloteh's most prolific marksman this year, and Gregory accused the club of breach of contract according to a report in the Antiguan Sun.

Joyce Kentish, the agent and lawyer of the pair, told the Sun that Jabloteh refused to adhere to stipulations in their contracts regarding accommodation.

Byers, Gregory and Samuel were allegedly robbed twice at gunpoint last year in the Bourg Mulatresse residence provided by the club. They subsequently moved to Curepe in July but Jabloteh refused to pay beyond $1,200 for each player and insisted that they meet the difference themselves.

The upset trio returned to their respective homelands two weeks ago.

It was good riddance as far as Hospedales was concerned. Hospedales, coordinator of the Divestment Secretariat at the Ministry of Finance, claimed that the three players-and not Jabloteh-were at fault.

"Their contract has nothing about accommodation," Hospedales told the Express. "That is a figment of somebody's imagination."

The club chairman countered by accusing the players of "distasteful behaviour" at their former Bourg Mulatresse home where the landlord allegedly terminated their lease agreement on July 1 after complaints dating back to May 19.

Hospedales claimed to have reported the players to the Pro League's Player Status Committee for breach of contract by their unauthorised exit. He was dismissive about their claim to have been robbed twice.

"I think their behaviour in the community elicited a response from the community," he said. "They refused to lock the gates and encouraged all sorts of guests despite the advice of the landlord."

But Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick was sad to see them go.

Byers, Gregory and Samuel combined for 12 of Jabloteh's 28 league goals this season. Byers has seven items, which is the fourth highest aggregate in the 2008 Pro League and the best at the club.

"I am not prepared to comment on what the club's position is with housing," said Fenwick, "but Byers was top scorer last season and this one and will be an obvious miss.

"Gregory and Samuel were nice guys to work with too and we wish them the very best.

"I would love to have them return to the club under different circumstances but it appears we have lost them."

Hospedales made it clear that future foreign signings as well as players from south Trinidad or Tobago would receive little assistance in finding and paying for accommodation. He claimed Jabloteh paid $6,000 to settle costs for damage at the Bourg Mulatresse house that they used for their players over the past five years.

"We don't want to expose ourselves as we did this time," said Hospedales.

"In future, we will put foreign players up for one month during which time they must make their own arrangements.

"But the policy of maintaining a house in our name will no longer occur."

At present, Jabloteh are four points clear of second-placed W Connection and six ahead of United Petrotrin and Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA.

2006 World Cup player Cornell Glen, who should be in action for Trinidad and Tobago against Haiti this evening, is likely to rejoin Jabloteh before the League restarts on August 9.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

How many play for T&T before they play for Jabloteh? Quite a few on my count!

Why the cough Deeks?  Is it because it is too hard to admit that he is the best TD/coach in T&T? Or is it that his level of professionalism is too much for Trinbagonians to bear? DUprey and Hospedales were there when JAb was a dot on the radar. Fenwick has turned them into a planet around which the national teams revolve.  In all fairness this man should have a at least one of our national teams to prepare.
