I used to see this fella at all the fetes (Clubhouse, The Lime, Zanzibar) back in the day... good stuff.  Howard is broken and in dire need of fixing.

just recently I really watch at the picture. And I do know the dude. Congrats. At one time another Trini by the name of Winston Alexis was a serious front runner for that job. He never made it.

Deeks

Is this the same Winston Alexis (Dr.) that was an All American HU first Team 1963 and also was on the winnining 1961 NAIA team?

On that note ..... All Americans from HU in soccer

Waidi Akanni 3/88
Winston Alexis 1/63
Keith “Bronco” Aqui 2/70, 1/71
Michael “Ian” Bain 1/72, HM/74
Carlton Briggs HM/64
Al Charles HM/62
Sylvanus Orialski 2/80
McDonald “Jim” Gibbs 2/58, HM/59
Bancroft Gordon 2/82
Peter Hezekiah 1/59, HM/60
Ernest Ipke HM/62
Peter Isaacs 1/89
Carlos Paul HM/63
Tyrone “Ted” Walker HM/67
Alvin Henderson 1/70, 1/71, 2/72

For each athlete, the number before the slash is level of team selection;
the number after the slash is the year selected.

1/: First Team; 2/: Second Team; 3/: Third Team; HM/: Honorable mention

Note: McDonald "Jim' Gibbs was the first ALL American from HU.... Did he play for any team on his return to Trinidad. He was a Civil Engineer in the Works Dept in the 1960's

Yes, I think that is the same Alexis. When I first went to Howard I met his son and daughter. His daughter and I work in the summer youth program on campus. Very nice people.

Ted Walker played for Paragon in the early 60s. His son Tarik played for Greneda. He also played for the Baltimore Blast Indoor. I also think "Squeakie" Hinds, another TT great played for HU in the mid 60s. I think he did engineering. Not sure.

Thanks Deek

I am doing a compilation of the HU team 1950-1981 .... including
the 1988 team with Frederick (manager) and Shaka (keeper) ... hoping to complete
by next year ...some info you/other warriors might like ...

Remembering a few members of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s HU soccer teams

Based on names mention in Coach Chamber’s book the following individuals (my selections) were selected:

1940’s : Fedo Blake and Hilton Clarke
1950’s: McDonald Gibbs, Peter Hezekiah, and Carlton Hinds
1960’s: Winston Alexis

Fedo Blake scored 26 goals during the 1949 season. 5 against Queens College, and at least one in every one of HU’s games. HU’s only loss came from the University of Havana.

Three members of Howard University named to 1959 All-Southern Soccer Team
Date Published: 1959-12-26 ;Source: Baltimore Afro-American;Page: 15

Three members of Howard University's D.C. Soccer Association championship squad were named to the 1959 All-Southern Soccer Team announced last week by Duke University. They are McDonald Gibbs, inside right; Alex Romeo, outside left; and Peter Hezekiah, right halfback. Gibbs, who is a repeater from last year's All-Southern team, also was named to the 1958 All-American squad. He is a senior from Trinidad, West Indies. Hezekiah, another Trinidadian, is a junior; while Romeo, a native of Bermuda is a freshman.

THREE OTHER Bisons received honorable mention on this year's team, which included players from 14 colleges in the Maryland-Virginia-North Carolina area. They were Carlton Hinds of Port-of-Spain, W.I., outside right; Winston Cooke of Jamaica, left half-back, and Victor Henry of Trinidad, right fullback.

Aside from being an exercised, initial step in rehabilitating the institution's public perception (they spent nuff time with him!), the good doc's rendition was phenomenal.

Also, that MBA wukking fuh him. Very well packaged responses that should have meaningful currency on the Hill, elsewhere within the Beltway, and beyond.

Good shizzle.

They didn't "come up with" that title... the use of these search committees is fairly standardized practice, each committee has someone as its head or leader.  Maybe it's because you're not familiar with who Vernon  Jordan is that is rings so awkward in your ear.

Yea most likely, but I just find it strange to create a temporary title like that for such a specific purpose

It's not really a "title" per se, more a statement of fact.  Yes it's capitalized and made into a proper noun, but in reality what it conveys is that he'll be leading the Presidential Search Committee as they set about in selecting a new President from a list of candidates.

Thanks very very much for posting the video.  That kind of direct action (contribution) is one of the reasons that make this site a treasure.   Before this thread I did not know about this fella.   Congrats to W. Frederick.

Well the show is a Sunday Morning variety/magazine type show, so the dep't of coverage isn't unprecedented.  Plus, Pat just might have a vested interest in the topic... "...Muse is a magna cum laude graduate of Howard University where she studied broadcast management"
