The tenth annual Carapichaima Invitational Youth Super League Football Tournament which kicks off on Saturday will see 36 teams competing for over $16,000 in prize money, medals and trophies. There will be competition in the Under-11, Under-13 and Under-16 divisions.

In recent years, Pro League teams Super Star Rangers, Joe Public, San Jabloteh and W Connection FC have played in the tournament with community teams from St James, Laventille, Claxton Bay, Gasparillo, Fyzabad, Moruga, Santa Cruz, La Romain, Point Fortin, La Brea, Trincity, Tunapuna and Central.

An Under-13 division will be introduced in this year’s tenth edition of the Carapichaima Invitational Youth Super League Football, hosted by Cap Off Youths Football Club.

According to the league co-ordinator Stephen Bartholomew, the new division is to foster “networking” among the coaching schools.

There will also be action in the Under-11 and Under-16 divisions, so as to showcase the players for the attention of scouts for the national Under-16 squad.

Bartholomew indicated that during the ten-year span of his league, Pro League teams Superstar Rangers, San Juan Jabloteh and W Connection competed in tournaments with community teams from St James, Laventille, Claxton Bay, Gasparillo, Fyzabad, Moruga, Santa Cruz, La Romain, Point Fortin, La Brea, Trincity, Tunapuna and teams from Central Trinidad.

There are 36 teams entered for this year’s competitions in three age groups.

Last year’s Under-11 winners Ralph Coaching School heads a list of 12 teams in the group — W Connection, Central Football Academy, Crown Trace United, Clint Marcelle FA, La Horquetta XF, SKHY FC, San Juan Jabloteh, Marabella Family Crisis, Cruz International, Alcons Coaching, Cap Off Youth FC.

Those in the Under-13 — W Connection, Central FA, Crown Trace United, Ralph Coaching, Glenford Thomas CS, Clint Marcelle FA, SKHY FC, Tabaquite FC, Maloney Real Footballers, Cruz International, Alcons Coaching, Cap Off Youths FC.

And in the Under-16 group — El Socorro United, Harlem Strikers, Crown Trace United, Brilliant Bargain, La Horquetta XF, Trincity Nationals, RSSR FA, Tabaquite FC, Maruga FC, 1st FC Santa Rosa, Jason Spence FA, Cap Off Youths.
