The 2009 Big 5 champs St Augustine and National Intercol champs Eldorado East will meet on Friday as the powerhouses of schools football in the Digicel Pro Bowl invitational challenge from 6pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Eldorado have never recorded a victory against St Augustine in their three meetings this season which ended 0-1 in Round One of the League, 1-1 in Round Two and a 1-0 defeat in the East Intercol Final.
However Eldorado head coach Trevor Spicer believes that his side can pull a victory against their archrivals on Friday.
“We are archrivals and that makes this match important. St Augustine won three of the four titles this season while we won one. We are the national champs and will be competing that way on Friday. We have a good squad and I believe we can win,” said the longstanding Eldorado coach.
Spicer’s bunch will include T&T U23 player Daneil Cyrus, T&T U17 player Kylon Gay, goalkeeper Christian Edwards, captain Khavoir Graham, Keron Bethelmy, Xavier Raveneles on Friday as they aim to registering their first victory against St Augustine this season and take the Digicel Pro Bowl invitational challenge trophy.
Meantime St Augustine coach Michael Grayson and his charges are promising to maintain their unbeaten run against Eldorado this season.
“The burden of the season is over, but we are taking this match serious,” said Grayson. “They have never beaten us this season and we intend to keep it that way. It doesn’t matter what they come with. We are ready to win.”
Grayson will be with goalkeeper Kerron Jones, who he considers the best in schools football, captain Jevaughn Vance, Stefon Pierre, Zavion Navarro, Pheon Jones, Kendall Campbell and Dinelle Lopez among others. Both St Augustine and Eldorado have been preparing all week for Friday’s clash.
