Edinburgh 500 seemed to be still suffering the effects of the FA Trophy final defeat to Cunupia FC last Thursday when it allowed a 2-0 lead to slip and had to settle for a 2-2 draw with cellar-placed Perseverance Ball Runners when matches in the CRILLE-sponsored Central Football Association Premier Division resumed at Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Woodford Lodge, Chaguanas, on Monday night.
Edinburgh entered the match eager to puts its 2-1 defeat to Cunupia in the Ramsingh Sports World FA Trophy at the same venue and looked well set to do so when Husani Thomas (12th) and Atiba Alves (29th) netted a goal each for a 2-0 lead.
But in the second half, Edinburgh lost its way and conceded two goals from Ball Runners’ Wendell Sutherland in the 67th and Akiel Jordan, four minutes from the final whistle for a 2-2 draw.
The drawn result left Edinburgh level on 28 points from 15 matches with Enterprise Youths at the top of the table, but second on goal difference while Harlem Strikers is next with 27, just ahead of Cunupia FC (26) and KC Perseverance United (25) which whipped St Mary’s United 5-2 in the second match at Woodford Lodge.
This, after falling behind to a first-minute Lincoln Clarke goal. The quintet of Peter Richards, Zitahrie Newark, Keinol Paul, Kevon Joseph and Kevon Edwards were all on target for Perseverance while Dennis Hunte got St Mary’s, second item.
