Three different players scored first-half goals for Marywood as the Pacers cruised to a 3-1 victory over Polytechnic on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Marywood improved to 5-2 on the season and matched the program record for wins in a season after just seven games.

The Pacers opened the scoring midway through the first half when Pete Szerling (Radom, Poland) took a thru-ball from Lee Powers (Lock Haven, PA) and rifled a shot just inside the far post from 20 yards out.

Marywood scored twice in the final 15 minutes of the opening half to take a commanding 3-0 lead at the break. First, Billy Gordon (Harrisburg, PA) finished off a feed from Jonathan Tejada (West Harrison, NY) after a scramble inside the box to put the Pacers up by two.

Mikhail Attong (Trinidad and Tobago) then netted his first goal of the season by converting on a feed from Powers after a restart for Marywood.

Jared El-Gayeh (Baldwin, NY) held Polytechnic off the board in the first half before being relieved in the Pacers’ net by John Albanese (Nanticoke, PA) in the second half.

The Fighting Blue Jays, who saw their record slide to 1-5-1 on the season with the loss, generated the majority of game's chances over the final thirty minutes of play and scored with 15 minutes remaining. However, Albanese and the Pacers’ defense were able to hold onto the two-goal cushion and preserve the win.

Marywood will return to action next Saturday when they host Philadelphia Biblical University in a CSAC match-up. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
