Ayinde GeorgeSophomore Andrew Schwert (Buffalo/West Seneca East) recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Cortland men's soccer team to a 2-0 win versus Brockport in the SUNYAC Tournament final at the Hall of Fame Fields. The Red Dragons improved to 10-6-3 with the win and earned an automatic NCAA berth, their first since winning the third of three consecutive conference titles in 2003. The Golden Eagles fell to 10-6-2 with the loss.

Schwert scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the fourth minute. Sophomore Jimmy Eichas (Hilton) assisted Schwert's fourth goal of the season on a corner kick. The Red Dragons added an insurance goal in the 20th minute when senior Ayinde George's (Arima, Trinidad/San Juan) shot slipped through Brockport goalie Kyle Sauln's hands. Schwert assisted on the score.

The Golden Eagles outshot Cortland, 20-11, in the game but could not beat Cortland senior goalie Jack Carillo (Cornwall/Ramapo), who finished with seven saves. Sauln stopped three shots for Brockport.

Carillo, George and senior Adam Jurcic (Guelph, ON/Our Lady of Lourdes) were named to the All-Tournament Team, and senior Peter Degere (West Islip) was selected as the Tournament MVP.

The NCAA Division III tournament bracket will be announced Monday at 9 a.m.
