The University of Charleston men’s soccer program improves their winning streak to three matches in a row after beating nationally ranked Seton Hill 2-1 on the road Wednesday.  This improves the men’s soccer team to 4-1 overall (2-0 WVIAC).  In a battle between conference foes, Seton Hill struck first with a goal by Mike Pistentis in the 17th minute.  The Golden Eagles then tied the game with 8 minutes remaining in the first half as freshman Florida native Drew DeAngelo was taken down in the box for a penalty kick.  Sophomore Predrag Ivanovic took the penalty and tied the match at 1-1 going into halftime.  “It was crucial for us to get on the scoreboard in the first half, because it brought the game back to neutral.  With our high fitness level, I was eager to see how we could work in the second half.  Once we made a few tactical adjustments at halftime, we were able to get in behind their defenders more in the second half,” Coach Duernberger stated.

Charleston’s second half included a dominating performance limiting SHU to 2 shots within the half.  It wasn’t until Predrag Ivanovic found Trinidad native Dion Peters in the 60th minute to take the 2-1 lead.  The Golden Eagles hit the post twice and out shot the Griffins 21-7.  Charleston returns to action on Saturday against Malone College at Triana Field with a 1:00 pm kickoff.
