With a berth to the America East tournament on the line, sophomore Stephen Knox recorded his first career multi-goal game to propel the Boston University men's soccer team past Vermont, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Centennial Field. With the victory, the Terriers (8-6-2, 2-4-0 AE) snap a four-game losing streak and clinch the No. 6 seed, while the Catamounts see their season end at 1-10-5 (1-4-2 AE).

Knox, named BU's America East player of the game, recorded his first goal of the game 32 minutes into the first half when he was able to redirect a pass from Samuel Appiah past senior goalie Tom Critz to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.

He was then able to extend the lead to 2-0 less than a minute into the second half when he rebounded his own shot past Critz to move into a tie for second on the team with Appiah in goals scored at four apiece.

The Catamounts did not back down and cut the lead to one at 85:14 when their AE player of the game Yannick Lewis scored inside the six-yard box off a header from Marty Galvin. T.J. Gore also assisted on the goal.

Senior Hrafn Davidsson finished the game with three saves to preserve the victory, while Critz had three as well. Vermont edged BU in shots, 11-9, and also finished ahead in corners, 8-3.

The Terriers have one game remaining at Albany on Saturday (Oct. 31), which is slated to begin at 2 p.m. The AE quarterfinal will take place the following Saturday, Nov. 7, at the No. 3 seed, which is still to be determined.
