The Colorado School of Mines men’s soccer team placed six players on All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams as voted on by the eight men’s soccer coaches in the RMAC. Manville Strand was named the Freshman of the Year while Frank Kohlenstein was selected as the Coach of the Year for the fourth time during his tenure. Jeff Nelson and Chike Sullivan were named to the First Team. Ted Decker and Strand earned Second Team All-RMAC honors while Jacob Juett and Philip Wilson were named to the Third Team.

Nelson, a senior forward from Laramie, Wyo. (Laramie H.S.), leads the team in both goals (12) and points (28) this season. Nelson leads the conference with five game-winning goals and ranks in the top five in points (tied- 2nd), goals per game (3rd) and points per game (4th).

Sullivan, a sophomore midfielder from San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago (St. George’s College), has started and played in 19 matches this season. Sullivan has seven goals and three assists and has converted all of his penalty kicks (3-for-3).

Decker, a senior midfielder from Butte, Mont. (Butte H.S.), has started and played in all 20 matches this season. Decker has five goals, two game-winners, and four assists on the season.

Strand, a freshman goalkeeper from Las Vegas, N.V. (Spring Valley H.S.), leads the RMAC in save percentage (.806). One of the top goalkeepers in the conference, Strand ranks second in goals against average (0.90) and shutouts (8).

Juett, a junior defender from Flower Mound, Texas (St. Edward’s Univ.), has helped anchor a CSM defense that ranks 14th in Division II in shutout percentage (0.53) and 25th in team goals against average (.86).

Wilson, a sophomore midfielder from Mansfield, Texas (Mansfield H.S.), has started and played in all 20 games this season. Wilson has seven goals on the season, including three game-winners, and three assists.

The 11th-ranked Orediggers (15-2-3, 11-2-1 RMAC), the #2 seed in the RMAC Tournament and Central Region, will play the #3 seed Metro State on Friday, Nov. 6th at Dirks Field on the campus of Fort Lewis College at noon. The winner will advance to the RMAC Championship on Sunday, Nov. 8th at 1:00 pm. The announcement of the field for the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championships will be made on Monday, Nov. 9th at 5:00 pm MST on NCAA.com.
