On senior day in Fort Kent the University of Maine Fort Kent men’s soccer team stayed undefeated with a 9-0 shutout of Fisher College. UMFK will hit the road for two games to close out their regular season schedule this Saturday October 30 vs. the College of Saint Joseph and Sunday October 31 in vs. Vermont Technical College.
UMFK honored their seven seniors, Andre Anderson (Manchester, Jamaica), Barrington Blake (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), Henley Comrie (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), Luka Odak (Kutina, Croatia), Oniqueky Samuels (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), Walford Stewart (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) and Damion Stone (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) prior to the match as they played in their final regular season home contest. The seven players hold a 71-3-3 overall record and are three-time Sunrise Conference Champions and have been to three NAIA National Tournaments. In 2008 the team reached the Elite 8 and in 2009 they received a school record no. 4 ranking in the national polls. The 2009 team gave up just six total goals in 19 games. The seven seniors have combined in appearing on eight Sunrise All-Conference teams (Anderson 3times, Blake 2times, Stone 2times, Odak 1time) and have five Sunrise Player of the Year Awards (Anderson Offensive PLOTY 3times, Blake Defensive PLOTY 1time, Stone Defensive PLOTY 1time). Anderson is a two-time NAIA All-American (1st in school history 2008) and the UMFK men’s soccer career leader in goals, assists and overall points. Blake became the second ever student-athlete to be named an NAIA All-American when he made the team last season.
