Rivals Baruch and Hunter played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in a CUNYAC match played at Field #10 on Randall’s Island.

With the result, the Bearcats now own a record of 3-0-1 (10 pts) in CUNYAC, which is currently good for second place, while the Hawks of Hunter College are 2-1-1 (8pts) in fifth place. For more details on the standings, click the available link in the upper right corner of this page.

The two teams played in chilly, and at times, rainy conditions at Randall’s Island with 90 minutes of regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods ending in a 1-1 draw.

The visiting Bearcats scored first with less than five minutes remaining in the first half on a penalty kick goal by Akil George. Hunter was called for a handball while defending a corner kick and that enabled George to easily score his fifth goal of the season.

Hunter, the home team in the match, responded quickly to tie the match five minutes into the second half with Nikolaos Orsanis scoring via a header during a corner kick.

Hunter continued to press for the go-ahead goal and had several more scoring opportunities, but the Baruch defense stood its ground to earn the one point to keep the team without any losses in CUNYAC play.

The men’s soccer team will continue their CUNYAC schedule on Wednesday, October 5, against the Beavers from the City College of New York (CCNY). Kick off at field #81 on Randall’s Island is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
