The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association will stage the opening round of matches in the National Lotteries Board (NLCB) TTFA Inter-Association competition.

Under 13 Boys teams representing each of the Regional Associations under the TTFA, will play a competition over the next five weekends at the Ato Boldon Stadium that will allow the best players in the country to be showcased before National Team Coaches and the TTFA Development personnel. This is geared towards future National Under 15 and Under 17 pools.

TTFA Technical Director Anton Corneal explained what the competition was all about.

“The elite programme competition is about allowing all the zones or regional associations in the country to be involved in the process of bringing the best players into a system that will now provide the national association to view and assess the players, both boys and girls, that are eligible and has the potential to play at the national level,” Corneal told TTFA Media.

“Coming out of this, we intend to start a national pool that will allow the best players to train and play at a level consistently which helps to make the process more competitive .

“It also gives the national coaches the opportunity to see possibly a hundred plus players every weekend over a five-weekend period. This also, is not the end of all for screening for this age group as we will continuously have training sessions and other avenues through the period to ensure players are not left out. And of course there will be opportunities for players from outside of Trinidad and Tobago who are eligible to represent the country, to be seen and involved both for boys and girls” Corneal added.

The competition hosted by the TTFA will cater for both boys and girls. The opening game takes place on Sunday from 10am at the Ato Boldon Stadium with the Central FA (CFA) taking on Eastern Counties Football Union (ECFU). Eastern FA (EFA) will take on Northern FA (NFA) from 11:30am and Southern FA (SFA) will take on Tobago FA (TFA) from 1pm.

The final round of matches for the Boys will take place on October 8th and the Under 14 Girls Competition will begin on October 22nd with the final round schedule taking place on November 19th. There will be prizes at stake for the competing teams.
