St Ann's Rangers edged bottom-of-the-table T&TEC 1-0 in the first game of a double header to claim sixth place in the Digicel Pro League Saturday at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.

They switched places with Central FC after the Sharks and Police battled to a goalless draw in the second game, in a weekend where only two goals were scored, the other being Devorn Jorsling's effort in Defence Force's 1-0 win over North East Stars on Friday at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Rangers' utility player Devon Modeste scored his seventh goal of the season to move into tied second place with W Connection's Shahdon Winchester, and just one behind Defence Force's most potent forward, Jorsling.

In a feisty match, Modeste took advantage of one of the very few Rangers' chances, angling his header in in the 63rd minute for the game's only goal.

Their opponents T&TEC could not replicate that effort, and their defender Angus John was denied by Rangers goalkeeper Akel Clarke in the first half, while Fabian Garcia also failed from close range in the 70th minute.

T&TEC ended the game one man short after referee Cordero Gould sent Glen Sutton off the field for a crunching tackle in the 76th minute.

In the second game between Police and Central, Police nearly opened the scoring in spectacular fashion, as Central goalkeeper and captain Marvin Phillip acrobatically tipped over a Christon Thomas volley after quarter of an hour.

Police coach Richard Hood watched as his charges failed to maintain their momentum, and the Sharks forced them back and wrested control of the game by the second half.

Twice, Central striker Hector Sam, a recent acquisition from Rangers, went close to the opener while Rennie Britto failed to convert the best chance of the match as he hit the upright from close range, having been freed by a clever Hayden Tinto pass.

It was the first League point for new Central coach Terry Fenwick, who lost 3-0 to defending champions DIRECTV W Connection the previous Saturday on his debut with the club.

But the Sharks still slid to seventh place, one below Rangers, in the eight-team table.
