CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh defender Ian Gray adds to the list of players who would miss the beginning of the 2007 Pro League season due to injuries sustained during pre-season preparations.

The powerfully built defender sustained the knee injury during his team’s 2-0 winning match against Tobago United two Mondays ago in the Clico Cup held in Tobago and wasn’t able to feature in the final match of the mini-tournament two days later.

Jabloteh went on to win the final match which was against Millwall FC to win the Cup with ease.
According to the Jabloteh Team Physiotherapist, Ashton Mills, the player would be out of action for about three to four weeks and would continue treatment and rehabilitation during the time.

Mills went on to explain, “There is a slight tear to the Medial Collateral Ligament to Ian’s left knee which is known as second degree ligament damage. On Saturday he visited the Trinidad and Tobago national team doctor, Dr. Terrance Babwah, and things are not too bad.”

However, Gray doesn’t hold much grief on missing out playing against the English Club, but is very disappointed on missing the opening matches of the Pro League season.

Speaking with ‘ttproleague.com’ Gray said, “It’s kind of a funny feeling for me right now. In all my time playing for Jabloteh this would be the first time I’m missing the beginning of the season and this is not good. I have prepared for the season and I really wanted to play from start to finish,” ended the big defender.

The first Jabloteh player to miss the season opening is newly signed St Vincent National striker Shandel Samuel who injured his right knee in the preseason month of March.

Shandel underwent surgery to repair his tendon in his right knee after rupturing the tendon in a very innocuous manner during a training session with the ‘San Juan Kings’.

The former North East Stars player is expected out of action for 4-6 months missing more than half of the 2007 Pro League season.
