ISAIAH SMITH continues to be the architect of Boys Town’s resurgence, firing in a late double on Thursday to snatch victory against Fishing Pond Revival in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond League.
And with league action close to completion, Boys Town are out of the reckoning for the $2000 prize and trophy but will feel comfortable knowing they have an excellent chance of qualifying for the “Big 8” knockout phase and a shot at the $40,000 first prize.
With both teams desperate for the three points on Thursday it was no surprise they cancelled each other out as the first half ended goalless.
But Fishing Pond Revival stunned their opponents in the second period with a goal somewhat against the run of play.
Boys Town were in need of some magic and Smith rose to the occasion once again with two brilliant finishes to silence the home team at the final whistle.
In Wednesday’s action, Blu Magic tamed the slumping Dragons 3-1 while North Oropouche hammered Sunrisers 15-1.
On Tuesday, Gremio whipped Fishing Pond Youths 8-1, G Madrid got past Fishing Pond All-Stars 2-1 and Take That and Cool It beat Manzan United 4-1.
In other results, Boys Town and Dream Team drew 2-2; Take That and Cool It and Fishing Pond Revival tied 3-3; G Madrid beat North Oropouche 5-2; Fishing Pond All-Stars defeated Coca All-Stars 4-1; Fishing Pond Youth got past Dragon 3-1.; Fishing Pond All-Stars beat Quash Trace by default; Boys Town beat Quash Trace by default; Blu Magic beat Quash Trace by default.
