Defenders walked away with three of the major awards at the privegiving ceremony and dinner of Real Maracas on Thursday at the Maracas Community Centre on Royal Road, Maracas.

Dale Simon, a robust and hard tackling stopper, was voted the club’s most outstanding player, taking the “Most Valuable Player” award as well as that for the “People’s Choice.”

He played a leading role in inspiring Real Maracas to capture the Premiership league title and FA Trophy in the Eastern Football Association (EFA).

Before receiving his trophy, Simon was described as a “player with good leadership qualities both on and off the field.” Fellow-defenders, Roger Henry and Kester Mejias were also considered among the top players, the former receiving the award for the “Most Disciplined” and the latter the “Best Allround Invividual.”

Sherron Manswell, who had an outstanding season in the forwardline, was the club’s leading goalscorer. He was also chosen as the “Best Forward.”

The “Most Improved Player” award went to midfielder Junior Castillo; while the “Coaches Award” was presented to 19-year-old forward Ronald Alexis.
