Lendore Youths and Lendore United both won their final Lendore Football League Big-Eight encounter on Wednesday to propel themselves into the tournament's Big-Four competition.

In the second game of the evening's double-header, Lendore Youths defeated Sweaters United 4-2 in what turned out to be a nail-biting encounter.

Gorean Highley beat goalkeeper Ervin John in the 54th minute to give Lendore the lead only for Akil Nichols to level proceedings two minutes later when his effort evaded the despairing dive of Junior Roberts.

Highley was on spot again in the 63rd minute when he calmly placed his right-footed shot beyond the reach of John to restore Lendore one goal advantage. Once again the lead was short-lived as Denzil Daniel drilled an angled right-footed shot from atop the 18-metre box that settled at the back of the net in the 67th minute of play.

With the score at 2-all Sweaters' fans began urging their team on as only a victory would have guarantee their progression in the tournament.

But it was not to be. John gifted Anthony Guppy with Lendore's third item when he raced off his line to intercept a through ball in the 72nd minute but failed to reach his target, leaving Guppy with the simple task of tapping home.

Jamal Sobers wasted a great opportunity to get Sweaters back in the hunt when he placed his 74th minute effort straight into the arms of Roberts from close range.

And Kerry Noray would seal the issue five minutes later when he raced unto a cross deep from the left flank, controlled the ball beautifully with his first touch before blasting his effort to the left of a diving John for Lendore's fourth item.

In the evening's opening fixture, Lendore United continued their unbeaten run in league competition by defeating Double Dog 3-1 with goals from Ian James, Kefim Blackford and Ronald Whisky.
